Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper use and care of your Taylor 5599 Body Fat-Body Water Scale. This scale is designed to estimate body fat and body water percentages using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA), in addition to providing accurate weight measurements. Please read this manual thoroughly before first use to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your device.

Setup and Initial Use
1. Battery Installation
Your scale comes with one long-life Lithium battery. Before first use, ensure the battery is correctly installed. Open the battery compartment on the underside of the scale and insert the battery, observing the polarity indicators (+/-).
2. Scale Placement
Place the scale on a hard, flat surface. Avoid carpets or uneven flooring, as this can affect accuracy. Ensure the scale is stable before stepping on it.
3. Unit Selection (Pound/Kilogram)
Locate the unit switch (usually on the underside of the scale or near the battery compartment). Select your preferred unit of measurement: pounds (lb) or kilograms (kg).
4. Setting User Profiles
The scale can store data for up to 4 users. To set up a profile:
- Press the ON button to activate the scale.
- Press the SET button. The user number (P1-P4) will flash. Use the ▲ or ▼ buttons to select a user number, then press SET.
- The gender icon will flash. Select male or female using ▲ or ▼, then press SET.
- The height will flash. Adjust your height using ▲ or ▼, then press SET.
- The age will flash. Adjust your age using ▲ or ▼, then press SET.
- The athlete mode icon will flash. Select ON or OFF using ▲ or ▼, then press SET to confirm. Athlete mode is recommended for individuals who engage in intense physical activity for at least 10 hours per week and have a resting heart rate of 60 beats per minute or less.
- The scale will display "0.0" and is ready for use.

Operating Instructions
1. Weight-Only Measurement
To measure only your weight:
- Gently tap the center of the scale with your foot to activate it. The display will show "0.0".
- Once "0.0" appears, step onto the scale with bare feet, standing still and centered.
- Your weight will be displayed. The scale will automatically turn off after a few seconds.
2. Body Fat and Body Water Measurement
For body composition analysis, ensure your user profile is set up (as described in Setup, Section 4).
- Press the ON button.
- Use the ▲ or ▼ buttons to select your user number (P1-P4), then wait for "0.0" to appear.
- Step onto the scale with bare feet, ensuring your feet are positioned on the stainless steel electrode pads. Stand still and centered.
- The scale will first display your weight, then cycle through your body fat percentage and body water percentage. The Low/Normal/Moderate/High status bar will indicate your body composition category.
- The scale will automatically turn off after displaying all measurements.
Important: For accurate body composition readings, always use the scale with bare, dry feet. Readings may vary if feet are wet or if socks/shoes are worn.

Care and Maintenance
- Clean the scale with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the scale in water.
- Avoid dropping the scale or subjecting it to strong impacts, as this can damage the tempered glass and internal components.
- Store the scale in a dry place at room temperature.
- If the scale will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the battery.

Troubleshooting
- "Lo" or "Err" displayed:
- This usually indicates a low battery. Replace the Lithium battery with a new one. Ensure the battery is inserted with correct polarity.
- Inaccurate readings:
- Ensure the scale is on a hard, flat, and level surface.
- Make sure your feet are bare, clean, and dry when taking body composition measurements.
- Stand still and centered on the scale.
- Avoid moving the scale frequently. If moved, allow it to calibrate by tapping it once and letting it return to "0.0" before use.
- No display:
- Check if the battery is correctly installed and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
