1. Introduction to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 is an ultra-compact digital interchangeable lens camera, designed to offer the ease of use of a compact digital camera with the versatility of interchangeable lenses. As the world's first Micro Four Thirds camera, it features a 12.1-megapixel 4/3-type MOS sensor and a Full-time Live View system. 2.1 Unboxing and Package Contents

Before beginning, ensure all components are present in the package:

2.2 Attaching the Lens

  1. Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear lens cap from the lens.
  2. Align the white mounting mark on the lens with the white mounting mark on the camera body.
  3. Rotate the lens clockwise until it clicks into place.
  4. Remove the front lens cap.

2.3 Inserting the Battery and Memory Card

  1. Open the battery/card compartment cover on the bottom of the camera.
  2. Insert the charged battery with the correct orientation until it locks into place.
  3. Insert an SD/SDHC memory card into the card slot with the label facing the front of the camera until it clicks.
  4. Close the compartment cover securely.

Note: Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use.

3. Operating the Camera

3.1 Powering On and Initial Settings

To power on the camera, slide the power switch located on the top plate. Upon first power-on, you may be prompted to set the date, time, and language. Follow the on-screen instructions using the control dial and directional buttons.

3.2 Basic Shooting Modes

The mode dial on the top of the camera allows you to select various shooting modes:

3.3 Focusing and Image Stabilization

The DMC-G1 utilizes a Contrast AF system. To focus, half-press the shutter button. The camera will automatically detect faces or focus on the central area. The Lumix G Vario 14-45mm lens includes MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer). Ensure the O.I.S. switch on the lens barrel is set to "ON" to reduce blur caused by camera shake, especially in low light or with longer focal lengths.

3.4 Using the Live View Finder and LCD

The camera features both an electronic Live View Finder (EVF) and a 3.0-inch vari-angle LCD monitor. You can switch between the EVF and LCD using the dedicated button or by setting the camera to automatically switch when you bring your eye to the viewfinder. The vari-angle LCD can be rotated for flexible shooting angles.

3.5 Taking a Picture

  1. Select your desired shooting mode using the mode dial.
  2. Frame your shot using either the EVF or the LCD monitor.
  3. Half-press the shutter button to focus. The focus area will illuminate when focus is achieved.
  4. Fully press the shutter button to take the picture.
