Initial Setup and First Use
- Unpack: Carefully remove your coffeemaker from its box and remove all packaging materials, labels, and stickers.
- Clean: Wash the carafe and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker with a soft, damp cloth.
- First Brew Cycle (Cleaning): Before brewing coffee for the first time, operate the coffeemaker with water only to clean the internal components.
- Fill the water reservoir to the 12-cup mark with clean water.
- Place an empty paper filter (or permanent filter) into the filter basket and close the lid.
- Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
- Plug the coffeemaker into an electrical outlet.
- Press the ON/OFF button to start the brew cycle.
- Allow the full cycle to complete, then discard the water from the carafe and turn off the coffeemaker.
- Set Clock:
- Plug in the coffeemaker. The digital clock will flash.
- Press the HOUR button until the correct hour appears. Pay attention to the PM indicator.
- Press the MIN button until the correct minute appears.
- The clock is now set.
Operating Instructions
Brewing Coffee
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the top lid and fill the water reservoir with cold, fresh water to your desired level, using the markings on the side of the coffeemaker. Do not exceed the 12-cup MAX line.
- Insert Filter: Place a 10-12 cup basket-style paper filter into the filter basket. Alternatively, use a permanent filter (sold separately).
- Add Coffee Grounds: Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee per cup, but adjust to your taste.
- Close Lid and Place Carafe: Close the top lid securely and place the empty glass carafe onto the warming plate. Ensure it is properly seated to activate the Grab-a-Cup Auto Pause feature.
- Start Brewing: Press the ON/OFF button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
- Grab-a-Cup Feature: If you need a cup before brewing is complete, you can temporarily remove the carafe. The brewing will pause. Return the carafe to the warming plate within 30 seconds to prevent overflow.
- After Brewing: Once the brewing cycle is complete, the coffeemaker will keep the coffee warm for 2 hours, then automatically shut off.

Using Delay Brew
The Delay Brew feature allows you to set the coffeemaker to start brewing at a specific time.
- Follow steps 1-4 from "Brewing Coffee" above (fill water, add filter and grounds, place carafe).
- Press the SET DELAY button. The indicator light will flash.
- Press the HOUR and MIN buttons to set the desired delayed brew time. Ensure the AM/PM indicator is correct.
- Once the desired time is set, press the SET DELAY button again to confirm. The indicator light will stop flashing and remain steadily lit, indicating that Delay Brew is active.
- The coffeemaker will automatically start brewing at the programmed time.
Care and Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the coffeemaker before cleaning and allow it to cool completely.
- Wash the carafe and filter basket in warm, soapy water. They are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker, warming plate, and control panel with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Do not immerse the coffeemaker in water or any other liquid.
Decalcification (Mineral Deposit Removal)
Mineral deposits (calcium and lime) can build up in your coffeemaker and affect its performance. Decalcify your coffeemaker regularly, typically every 1-3 months, depending on water hardness.
- Pour 4 cups of undiluted white household vinegar into the water reservoir.
- Place an empty paper filter (or permanent filter) into the filter basket and close the lid.
- Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
- Press the ON/OFF button to start a brew cycle.
- Allow half of the vinegar solution to brew into the carafe, then press the ON/OFF button to turn off the coffeemaker.
- Let the coffeemaker soak for at least 30 minutes to allow the vinegar to clean the internal components.
- After 30 minutes, press the ON/OFF button to resume the brew cycle and brew the remaining vinegar solution.
- Once the cycle is complete, discard the vinegar solution from the carafe.
- Run 2-3 full brew cycles with clean, fresh water only to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste or odor.
