4. Setup
- Battery Installation: Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale. Open the compartment cover, insert one 9V alkaline battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the cover securely.
- Placement: Place the scale on a hard, flat, and stable surface. Uneven surfaces can affect accuracy.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Turning On/Off
- To turn the scale ON, press the ON button located on the right side of the display. The display will show "0" or "0.0" when ready.
- To turn the scale OFF, press the OFF button. The scale will automatically turn off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.
5.2 Unit Selection
Your Salter scale can measure in both metric (grams, kilograms) and imperial (ounces, pounds) units.
- Press the g/oz button to toggle between grams (g) and ounces (oz). The selected unit will be displayed on the LCD screen.
5.3 Weighing Items
- Turn the scale ON. Ensure the display shows "0" or "0.0".
- Place the item you wish to weigh directly onto the glass platform.
- The weight will be displayed on the LCD screen in the selected unit.
5.4 Tare Function (Zeroing)
The Tare function allows you to weigh multiple ingredients in the same container or to subtract the weight of a container.
- Place an empty container on the scale platform. The display will show its weight.
- Press the ZERO button. The display will reset to "0" or "0.0".
- Add the ingredient you wish to weigh into the container. The display will show only the weight of the added ingredient.
- Repeat the process for additional ingredients.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
- Cleaning: The glass platform is easy to clean. Wipe the scale with a damp cloth and a mild detergent if necessary. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the scale in water.
- Storage: Store the scale in a dry place at room temperature. Avoid extreme temperatures or humidity.
