3. Setup and Initial Operation
3.1 Winding the Watch
Your Seiko SNKE51K1S watch is powered by an automatic mechanical movement. It does not require batteries. The mainspring is wound by the motion of your wrist during daily wear. If the watch has stopped, it needs an initial manual wind to start:
- Gently shake the watch from side to side for approximately 30 seconds to initiate the movement.
- Wear the watch for several hours to build up a sufficient power reserve.
If the watch is not worn for an extended period (typically 40 hours or more), it will stop. Simply repeat the initial winding steps.
3.2 Setting the Time
- Pull the crown out to the second click position.
- Rotate the crown to move the hands clockwise until the desired time is set. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly distinguished when setting the time, especially for the date change.
- Push the crown back in to the normal position to start the watch.
3.3 Setting the Date and Day
The watch features a quick-set function for the date and day.
- Pull the crown out to the first click position.
- Rotate the crown clockwise to set the day.
- Rotate the crown counter-clockwise to set the date.
- Once the correct date and day are displayed, push the crown back in to the normal position.
Important Note: Do not attempt to set the date or day between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM (21:00 - 05:00). Adjusting the date/day during these hours can damage the internal mechanism.
3.4 Adjusting the Bracelet
The stainless steel bracelet can be adjusted by adding or removing links to achieve a comfortable fit. Due to the specialized tools and precision required, it is recommended to have bracelet adjustments performed by a qualified jeweler or watch technician to prevent damage.

4. Operating Your Automatic Watch
Your Seiko SNKE51K1S is an automatic watch, meaning it is powered by the natural motion of your body. It does not require manual winding daily if worn consistently.
- Power Reserve: When fully wound, the watch has a power reserve that allows it to run for approximately 40 hours without being worn. If the watch is not worn for longer than its power reserve, it will stop and require re-setting.
- Accuracy: Automatic watches are mechanical instruments and may exhibit slight variations in timekeeping compared to quartz watches. Minor adjustments to the time may be necessary periodically.
5. Maintenance and Care
5.1 Water Resistance
The Seiko SNKE51K1S watch is water-resistant to 30 meters (99 feet). This rating means the watch is suitable for everyday use and can withstand splashes or brief immersion in water. It is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.
5.2 Cleaning
To maintain the appearance of your watch:
- Wipe the case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth regularly.
- For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaning materials.
5.3 Crystal Care
The watch features a Hardlex crystal, which is scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof. Avoid impacts and contact with abrasive surfaces to prevent scratches.
5.4 Storage
When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. The original watch box provides suitable protection.

6. Troubleshooting
- Watch Not Running: If the watch has stopped, ensure it has been sufficiently wound by shaking it gently for 30 seconds and then wearing it. If it still does not run, the movement may require inspection.
- Time Inaccuracy: Automatic watches are mechanical and can gain or lose a few seconds per day. This is normal. If the inaccuracy is significant, ensure the watch is fully wound and consider having it regulated by a professional.
- Date/Day Not Changing: Verify that the time is set correctly, distinguishing between AM and PM. Ensure you are not attempting to set the date/day between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM, as this can interfere with the mechanism.
