Introduction
The CHAUVET DJ Pro-D6 is a versatile 6-channel DMX-512 dimmer/switch pack designed for professional lighting applications. It offers precise control over lighting fixtures with features such as three dimmer curve selections per channel and the ability to configure each channel as either a dimmer or a relay. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of your Pro-D6 unit.

Setup
Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully unpack the Pro-D6 unit and inspect it for any signs of damage during transit. If any damage is observed, contact your vendor immediately. Ensure all components listed in the packaging are present.
Mounting
The Pro-D6 is designed for rack mounting. Secure the unit into a standard 19-inch equipment rack using appropriate rack screws. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.
Power Connection
The Pro-D6 requires dual 20A power lines for full functionality. It is critical that these two separate circuits are on the same electrical phase. Connecting to different phases can lead to erratic behavior, particularly on channels 4, 5, and 6. The unit operates on 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz (auto-ranging). Each channel can handle up to 10 A, with a maximum total output of 40 A.

DMX Connection
Connect your DMX controller to the DMX In port on the rear of the Pro-D6 using a 3-pin DMX cable. If linking multiple DMX devices, connect the DMX Out port to the DMX In port of the next device in the chain. Ensure proper DMX termination for stable signal transmission.

Operating
Control Panel Overview
The front panel features a digital display and navigation buttons (Menu, Up, Down, Enter) for configuring the unit. The display shows current settings and DMX values.
Setting DMX Address
- Press the Menu button to access the main menu.
- Navigate using the Up/Down buttons to find the DMX address setting.
- Press Enter to select, then use Up/Down to set the desired DMX start address.
- Press Enter to confirm the setting.
Configuring Channel Modes
Each of the six channels can be independently set as either a dimmer or a relay.
- Access the channel settings via the Menu button.
- Select the desired channel (1-6).
- Choose between 'Dimmer' for variable intensity control or 'Relay' for simple on/off switching.
- Confirm your selection with Enter.
Selecting Dimmer Curves
For channels configured as dimmers, you can select one of three dimmer curves: Square, Switch, or Linear. This allows for fine-tuning the dimming response to suit different lighting fixtures and effects.
- Within the channel settings, navigate to the dimmer curve option.
- Use Up/Down to select the desired curve.
- Press Enter to save.
Manual Set Point (DMX Signal Loss)
The Pro-D6 features a manual set point that the dimmer pack will revert to if the DMX signal is lost. This ensures a predictable state for your lighting in case of signal interruption.
- Access the DMX signal loss settings in the menu.
- Set the desired output level for each channel (0-255) that will be maintained upon DMX signal loss.
- Save the settings.
Maintenance
Cleaning
Regularly clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and debris to maintain proper airflow.
Cable Inspection
Periodically inspect all power and DMX cables for wear, cuts, or damage. Replace any damaged cables immediately to prevent electrical hazards or signal interruptions.
Environmental Considerations
Operate the Pro-D6 in a dry environment, away from excessive moisture, dust, and extreme temperatures. Ensure the unit is not exposed to direct sunlight or heat sources.
Troubleshooting
No Power
- Check that both power cables are securely connected to active 20A circuits.
- Verify that the power switches on the rear of the unit are in the 'ON' position.
- Ensure the power outlets are functioning correctly.
Erratic Channel Behavior / Intermittent On/Off
- This often occurs if the two 20A feeder circuits are on different electrical phases. Ensure both circuits are on the same phase as required for proper operation.
- Check DMX cable connections for looseness or damage.
DMX Signal Issues
- Verify the DMX address set on the Pro-D6 matches the address sent by your DMX controller.
- Ensure DMX cables are correctly connected (DMX In to DMX Out).
- Confirm DMX termination is properly applied at the end of the DMX chain.
- Test with a different DMX cable to rule out cable faults.
Overload Protection
The unit has built-in overload protection. If a channel or the entire unit shuts down, check the connected load to ensure it does not exceed 10 A per channel or 40 A total. Disconnect the overloaded fixture, reset the unit, and reconnect with appropriate loads.
