Pelican Storm iM2100 Case with Foam User Manual

Model: IM2100-20001

Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your Pelican Storm iM2100 Case with Foam. Designed for superior protection, this case features a durable HPX Polymer construction and a customizable foam interior to safeguard your valuable equipment.

Setup

Unpacking

Carefully remove the Pelican Storm iM2100 case from its packaging. Inspect the case for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. Ensure all components, including the lid foam, base foam, and Pick N Pluck foam layers, are present.

Customizing the Foam Interior (Pick N Pluck)

The Pelican Storm iM2100 case includes Pick N Pluck foam, allowing you to create a custom fit for your equipment. This foam is pre-scored into small cubes for easy removal.

  1. Plan Your Layout: Arrange your equipment inside the case to determine the optimal placement. Ensure sufficient clearance around each item and between items to provide adequate cushioning.
  2. Outline Your Items: Using a marker or chalk, carefully trace the outline of each item onto the top layer of the Pick N Pluck foam.
  3. Remove Foam Cubes: Gently pluck out the pre-scored foam cubes within your outlined areas. Start with smaller sections and gradually remove more foam until your equipment fits snugly without being compressed.
  4. Test Fit: Place your equipment into the customized foam. The items should fit securely and not shift when the case is closed. Adjust by removing more foam as needed.

Operating the Case

Opening and Closing the Press & Pull Latches

The Pelican Storm iM2100 case features Press & Pull latches designed for secure closure and easy opening.

  1. To Open: Locate the small button on each latch. Press this button firmly, then pull the latch upwards to release it from the case body. Repeat for all latches.
  2. To Close: Align the lid with the base. Press each latch down firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure the button on the latch is fully engaged and the latch is flush with the case body for a secure, watertight seal.

Using the Vortex Automatic Pressure Release Valve

The Vortex valve automatically adjusts air pressure inside the case, preventing vacuum lock and making the case easier to open after changes in altitude or temperature, while maintaining waterproof integrity.

  • No manual adjustment is required for the valve. It operates automatically.
  • Ensure the valve is free from debris or obstructions for optimal performance.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Case

To maintain the appearance and functionality of your case:

  • Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • For stubborn dirt, a soft brush can be used. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • Allow the case to air dry completely before closing or storing.

Gasket Inspection

The O-ring gasket provides the watertight seal for your case. Regular inspection is recommended:

  • Periodically inspect the O-ring gasket located in the lid for cracks, tears, or debris.
  • Clean the gasket with a damp cloth. If necessary, apply a thin coat of silicone grease (not petroleum-based products) to keep it pliable.
  • If the gasket is damaged, it should be replaced to maintain the case's waterproof rating. Contact Pelican customer support for replacement parts.

Troubleshooting

  • Difficulty Opening Latches: Ensure the pressure release valve is clear. Press the latch button firmly before pulling the latch.
  • Case Feels Stuck After Air Travel/Altitude Change: The Vortex valve should equalize pressure automatically. If not, ensure the valve is not obstructed.
  • Suspected Water Leak:
    1. Check the O-ring gasket for damage or debris. Clean and lubricate if needed.
    2. Ensure all latches are fully closed and engaged.
    3. Verify the Vortex valve is clear and functioning.
