5. Setup & Installation
5.1. Mounting Guidelines
Proper sizing and placement of outdoor lighting fixtures are crucial for both aesthetics and functionality. For entryway lighting, fixtures should generally measure 1/4 to 1/3 of the door's height. Mount them at eye level, approximately 5.5 to 6 feet from the ground to the fixture's center. For double doors, mount lights on either side, 8 to 10 feet apart. For garages, use a single wall lantern for a one-car garage, or mount lights on either side of the doors for two or more car garages, or across the top for even illumination.

5.2. Wiring and Assembly

Use the provided wire nuts to connect the fixture wires to the supply wires (black to black, white to white, and bare/green to bare/green ground wire).
- Attach the mounting plate to the outlet box.
- Make electrical connections: connect the black supply wire to the black fixture wire, the white supply wire to the white fixture wire, and the bare or green ground wire to the bare or green fixture ground wire. Secure with wire nuts.
- Carefully tuck all wires into the outlet box.
- Mount the fixture to the mounting plate using the provided screws.
- Install the bulbs (see section 5.3).

5.4. Wet Location Use
For installations in unsheltered outdoor areas exposed directly to rain, an accessory top cover lens (Model P860045-031) is required to ensure the fixture is UL listed for wet locations. This lens is sold separately. Without this lens, the fixture is only suitable for damp locations (covered outdoor areas).
