  • This trim kit is designed for use with original, non-pressure balance Mixet valves only. Do not attempt to install with other valve types.

  • (1) Handle Set Screw
  • (1) 5-1/2" OD Escutcheon (Satin Nickel)

4. Tools Required

The following tools may be required for installation:

  • Adjustable Wrench
  • Screwdriver (Phillips or Flathead, depending on existing screws)
  • Allen Wrench (for set screw, if not included with kit)
  • Plumber's Putty or Silicone Sealant (optional, for escutcheon sealing)
  • Cleaning Cloth

5. Setup & Installation

Before you begin, ensure the main water supply to the tub/shower is turned off.

  1. Remove Old Trim: Carefully remove the existing handles, escutcheon, and any other trim components from your Mixet valve. Note the orientation of the existing components for reference.
  2. Clean Area: Clean the wall surface around the valve thoroughly to ensure a good seal for the new escutcheon.
  3. Install Retainer Nut: If your existing valve does not have one, install the new faucet stem retainer nut onto the valve body. Hand-tighten, then use an adjustable wrench to gently snug it. Do not overtighten.
  4. Position Escutcheon: Place the new 5-1/2" OD escutcheon over the valve body and retainer nut. Ensure it sits flush against the wall. You may apply a thin bead of plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the back edge of the escutcheon for a watertight seal, if desired.
  5. Install Handles:
    • Slide the temperature control lever handle onto the appropriate stem of the Mixet valve.
    • Slide the ADA compliant volume control lever handle onto the other stem.
    • Align the handles correctly for proper operation (e.g., off position, hot/cold indicators).
    • Secure each handle using the provided handle set screw. Use an Allen wrench or appropriate screwdriver to tighten the set screw. Do not overtighten.
  6. Test for Leaks: Turn the main water supply back on slowly. Check all connections and the escutcheon area for any signs of leaks. If leaks are present, turn off the water, re-check connections, and tighten as necessary.
  7. Functionality Check: Test the operation of both the temperature and volume control handles to ensure smooth movement and proper water flow.

6. Operation

This trim kit is designed for a single-handle Mixet valve, controlling both water temperature and volume.

  • Volume Control: The ADA compliant lever handle controls the water flow. Move the handle to increase or decrease the water volume.
  • Temperature Control: The temperature control lever handle adjusts the water temperature. Rotate the handle to achieve the desired hot or cold water mix.
  • Familiarize yourself with the specific movement of your Mixet valve for optimal control.

7. Maintenance

Proper care will help maintain the finish and functionality of your trim kit.

  • Cleaning: Clean the satin nickel finish regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the finish.
  • Spot Cleaning: For water spots, use a mild soap solution and a soft cloth, then rinse thoroughly and dry.
  • Handle Tightness: Periodically check the handle set screws for tightness. If a handle feels loose, gently tighten the set screw.
