Introduction

The Kichler 15310AZT Dome Path Light is a low voltage landscape path and spread light designed for outdoor use. It features a textured architectural bronze finish and is constructed from high-quality aluminum. This fixture provides soft, balanced light for pathways and landscape areas.

Setup and Installation

This path light is designed for straightforward installation. It includes an 8-inch in-ground stake for secure placement. The fixture is supplied with 24-inch of 18-2 gauge, SPT-1-W lead wire and cable connectors for quick connection to a low voltage transformer (transformer not included).

Installation Steps:

1. Prepare the Location: Choose a suitable location in your yard, ensuring it is clear of underground utilities. The light can be installed in grass, soil, or even rocky areas.
2. Assemble the Light: Ensure all components are present as shown in the diagram.
3. Install the Stake: Firmly push or gently hammer the 8-inch in-ground stake into the desired location.
4. Mount the Fixture: Attach the path light fixture to the installed stake.
5. Connect Wiring: Use the provided 24-inch of 18-2 gauge, SPT-1-W lead wire and cable connectors to connect the fixture to your existing 12V low voltage landscape lighting system. Ensure all connections are secure and waterproof.
6. Power On: Connect your low voltage transformer to a power source to test the light.

Optional mounting accessories are available for surface mounting with a junction box (Kichler model 15601) and tree/surface mounting (Kichler model 15607), sold separately.

Operating Instructions

The Kichler 15310AZT uses a 12V incandescent T-5 wedge base socket and comes with a 16.25 watt (VA) bulb. This bulb provides soft, balanced light without troublesome glare or hot spots. The VA rating helps in calculating the total system load for transformer sizing.

To operate, ensure the light is properly connected to a compatible 12V low voltage landscape lighting system and transformer. The light will illuminate when the transformer is powered on, typically controlled by a timer or switch connected to the transformer.

Optional LED lamps are available for use in place of the included 16.25W Xenon lamp: Kichler models 18039 (2700K), 18040 (3000K), or 18041 (4200K) LED 12V 3000-degree Omni-Directional 2W 2.8VA 85-Lumen. These highly energy-efficient, 30,000-hour T5 Wedge Base LED lamps are comparable to a 16W Xenon lamp and can be purchased separately from Kichler Lighting.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Kichler Path Light.

• Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the fixture with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
• Bulb Replacement: To change the bulb, you will need to unscrew three screws from under the cap and remove it entirely to access the T-5 wedge base bulb. Ensure the power to the fixture is off before attempting bulb replacement. Replace with a 12V T-5 wedge base bulb of appropriate wattage (16.25W Xenon or compatible LED).
• Wiring Inspection: Annually inspect the wiring and connections for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Ensure all cable connectors remain secure.

Troubleshooting

If your Kichler Path Light is not functioning as expected, consider the following common issues:

• Light Not Illuminating:
  • Check the power supply to the low voltage transformer.
  • Verify that the bulb is securely seated in its socket and is not burnt out. Replace if necessary.
  • Inspect all wiring connections, especially the cable connectors, for looseness or corrosion. Ensure a solid electrical connection.
  • Confirm the transformer is correctly sized for the total wattage of all connected lights.
• Dim or Flickering Light:
  • This often indicates a poor electrical connection. Re-check all wiring connections, ensuring they are tight and free of corrosion.
  • The bulb may be nearing the end of its life. Replace the bulb.
  • Ensure the transformer is not overloaded.
• Water Inside Fixture:
  • While suitable for wet locations, ensure the fixture is properly assembled and sealed. Check for any cracks or damage to the housing or lens.
  • Verify that wiring connections are properly sealed to prevent water ingress.
• Misleading "LED" Description:
  • Note that this fixture is designed for a Xenon bulb but is compatible with separately purchased T5 base LED bulbs. The product title may refer to its compatibility with LED bulbs, not that it comes with one pre-installed.
