Setup and Installation

This section outlines the general steps for installing your TOTO MS853113E toilet. A 12-inch rough-in is required for proper installation. Top-tightening mounting bolts are included for ease of installation.

Required Tools (Not Included):

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Area: Ensure the floor flange is clean and free of debris. Remove any old wax ring material.
  2. Install Flange Bolts: Insert the T-bolts into the floor flange slots and secure them with washers and nuts, ensuring they are upright and parallel to the wall.
  3. Set the Wax Ring: Place the new wax ring onto the horn of the toilet bowl or directly onto the floor flange, ensuring a good seal.
  4. Position the Toilet: Carefully lift the toilet and align the bolt holes in the base with the T-bolts. Gently lower the toilet onto the wax ring, pressing down firmly and evenly to create a watertight seal. Do not rock the toilet.
  5. Secure the Toilet: Place washers and nuts onto the T-bolts. Hand-tighten the nuts, then use a wrench to tighten them incrementally, alternating between bolts to ensure even pressure. Do not overtighten, as this can crack the ceramic.
  6. Connect Water Supply: Attach the flexible water supply line from the shut-off valve to the toilet's fill valve connection. Hand-tighten, then use a wrench for a final snug turn. Do not overtighten.
  7. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the main water supply and check for leaks at all connections. Allow the tank to fill.
  8. Install SoftClose Seat: Follow the separate instructions provided with the SoftClose seat for proper attachment to the toilet bowl. The top-tightening design simplifies this process.
