4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Battery Installation
The transmitter requires 2 AA batteries (included). Follow these steps for battery installation:
- Open the battery compartment located on the back of the unit.
- Insert the batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment securely.

4.2 Placement
Proper placement is crucial for accurate readings and reliable transmission:
- The transmitter can be hung using its integrated bracket or placed on a flat surface.
- For accurate temperature readings, place the transmitter in a location protected from direct precipitation and direct sunlight. Direct sunlight can significantly distort temperature values.
- Ensure the placement allows for optimal wireless transmission to your weather station. The outdoor transmitter has a range of up to 100 meters in an open field. Avoid major obstructions like thick walls or large metal objects between the transmitter and the weather station.

5. Operation
Once batteries are installed and the unit is placed, the transmitter will automatically begin measuring the ambient temperature.
It transmits this data wirelessly to your compatible TFA WETTERdirekt weather station at a frequency of 868 MHz. The weather station will then display the received temperature information.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Battery Replacement
Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on your weather station or if the transmitter stops sending data. Always replace both batteries simultaneously with new AA batteries.
6.2 Cleaning
Clean the exterior of the transmitter with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the casing or internal components.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 No Temperature Reading / No Signal
- Check Battery Status: Ensure batteries are correctly inserted and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- Verify Compatibility: Confirm that your weather station model is listed as compatible with the WD 30.3156 transmitter. Incompatibility is a common reason for communication failure.
- Proximity: Ensure the transmitter is within the 100-meter range of the weather station and that there are no major obstructions (thick walls, large metal objects) that could interfere with the 868 MHz signal.
- Re-synchronization: Refer to your weather station's manual for instructions on how to re-synchronize or pair a new outdoor transmitter.
7.2 Inaccurate Temperature Readings
- Placement: Relocate the transmitter if it is exposed to direct sunlight, rain, or heat sources, as these can cause inaccurate readings.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate airflow around the sensor to prevent heat buildup from affecting readings.
