Package Contents

Ensure all items are present in the package:

  • AKG K271 MKII Professional Studio Headphones
  • 3-meter (10ft) Straight Cable with Mini XLR and 3.5mm Jack
  • 5-meter (16ft) Coiled Cable with Mini XLR and 3.5mm Jack
  • Leatherette Ear Pads (pre-installed or spare)
  • Velour Ear Pads (spare)
  • 1/4-inch (6.3mm) Screw-on Adapter

Setup

  1. Attach the Cable: Select either the 3-meter straight cable or the 5-meter coiled cable. Connect the mini XLR end of the cable to the input jack located on the left earcup of the headphones. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
  2. Connect to Audio Source: Plug the 3.5mm jack end of the cable into your audio device (e.g., audio interface, mixer, computer, smartphone). If your audio device requires a 1/4-inch connection, screw on the included 1/4-inch adapter to the 3.5mm jack.
  3. Adjust Ear Pads (Optional): The K271 MKII comes with both leatherette and velour ear pads. To change them, gently pull off the existing ear pad from the earcup. Align the new ear pad with the earcup and carefully press it around the rim until it is securely attached.

Operating Instructions

Wearing the Headphones

The K271 MKII features a self-adjusting headband designed for optimal fit and comfort during long listening sessions. Simply place the headphones on your head; the headband will automatically adjust to your size.

Auto-Mute Feature

The K271 MKII includes an auto-mute switch integrated into the headband. When the headphones are removed from your head, the audio signal is automatically muted. This prevents unwanted sound leakage and conserves power if connected to certain devices. The audio resumes when the headphones are placed back on your head.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Wipe the headphones with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • For ear pads, follow specific cleaning instructions provided by AKG or use a slightly damp cloth and allow to air dry completely before reattaching.

Cable Replacement

The detachable cable with a professional mini XLR connector allows for easy replacement. To detach, gently pull back the locking mechanism on the mini XLR connector and pull the cable out. To attach a new cable, align the connector and push until it clicks securely.

Ear Pad Replacement

Ear pads can be replaced for hygiene or comfort. Gently peel off the old ear pad from the earcup. Align the new ear pad with the earcup's rim and carefully work it around the edge until it is fully seated and secure.

Troubleshooting

  • No Sound:
    • Ensure the cable is securely connected to both the headphones and the audio source.
    • Check the volume level on your audio source.
    • Verify that the headphones are properly seated on your head to disengage the auto-mute feature.
    • Test with a different audio source or cable if possible.
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Lower the volume on your audio source.
    • Ensure the cable connections are firm.
    • Test with a different audio source.
  • Uncomfortable Fit:
    • Allow the self-adjusting headband to settle.
    • Consider switching between the leatherette and velour ear pads for different comfort levels.
