3. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure the main water supply to the toilet is turned off. It is recommended to drain the cistern completely.

  1. Preparation: Turn off the water supply valve to the toilet. Flush the toilet to empty the cistern. Use a sponge to remove any remaining water.
  2. Remove Old Fill Valve: Disconnect the water supply line from the old fill valve. Unscrew the retaining nut from underneath the cistern and carefully remove the old valve.
  3. Install New Fill Valve: Insert the new Geberit Type 380 Fill Valve into the cistern's inlet hole from the inside. Ensure the rubber washer is correctly seated on the valve shank inside the cistern.
  4. Secure Valve: From underneath the cistern, thread the retaining nut onto the valve shank and tighten it securely by hand. Do not overtighten.
  5. Connect Water Supply: Connect the water supply line to the brass nipple of the new fill valve. Use a wrench to tighten the connection, ensuring a watertight seal.
  6. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the main water supply valve to the toilet. Check for any leaks around the connections.
  7. Adjust Water Level: The water level can be adjusted by manipulating the float mechanism. Refer to the markings on the valve for optimal water level settings.

4. Operation

Once installed and the water supply is restored, the Geberit Type 380 Fill Valve will automatically fill the cistern after each flush. The float mechanism rises with the water level, and once the preset level is reached, the valve closes, stopping the water flow. This ensures efficient water usage and prevents overflow.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your fill valve.

  • Cleaning: Periodically inspect the valve for mineral deposits or debris, especially in hard water areas. Turn off the water supply, remove the valve, and gently clean components with a soft brush and mild detergent.
  • Float Check: Ensure the float moves freely and is not obstructed.
  • Filter Inspection: Some valves may have an inlet filter. Check and clean it if necessary to maintain proper water flow.
