Dennerle - Complete Long-Term CO2 Test Correct + pH

Model: 3040 | Brand: Dennerle

Product Overview

The Dennerle Correct Long-Term CO2 Test + pH is designed for precise and reliable measurement of CO2 content in aquarium water. This test utilizes a unique six-colorimetric scale, allowing direct reading of CO2 concentration in milligrams per liter. Unlike conventional CO2 tests that mix aquarium water with the indicator, the Dennerle Correct test uses a special ready-to-use indicator solution, ensuring accurate results by preventing distortion from humic acids or nitrates present in aquarium water.

Setup Instructions

  1. Prepare the Test Unit: Carefully open the Dennerle CO2 long-term test unit. It consists of two parts that fit together.
  2. Add Indicator Solution: Take one vial of the special CO2 indicator solution. Pour the entire contents of the vial into the lower chamber of the test unit. Do not mix with aquarium water.
  3. Assemble the Unit: Securely close the test unit, ensuring a tight seal.
  4. Placement in Aquarium: Attach the suction cup to the back of the test unit. Place the unit inside your aquarium, ensuring it is fully submerged and positioned in an area with good water circulation, but not directly in the path of a strong filter outflow. It should be placed at a depth where it is easily visible for reading.
  5. Initial Stabilization: Allow the test unit to stabilize for at least 1-2 hours before taking the first reading. The indicator solution needs time to react with the CO2 in the aquarium water.

Operating Instructions

The Dennerle CO2 Long-Term Test continuously monitors the CO2 level in your aquarium. The indicator solution will change color based on the CO2 concentration. Regular observation is key to maintaining optimal CO2 levels for your aquatic plants and fish.

Reading the Results:

Compare the color of the indicator solution in the test unit with the provided colorimetric scale chart. The chart displays various shades corresponding to different CO2 concentrations (in mg/L) and associated pH values.

Maintenance

For accurate and reliable results, the indicator solution should be replaced regularly. It is recommended to replace the solution approximately every 4-5 weeks, or sooner if the color appears faded or inconsistent.

  1. Remove Unit: Carefully remove the test unit from the aquarium.
  2. Empty Old Solution: Open the test unit and discard the old indicator solution.
  3. Clean Unit: Rinse the test unit thoroughly with clean water (preferably reverse osmosis or distilled water) to remove any residue. Do not use detergents or soaps.
  4. Add New Solution: Pour the contents of a new indicator solution vial into the unit.
  5. Reinstall: Close the unit securely and place it back into the aquarium as per the setup instructions.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Indicator color does not change or changes slowly.Insufficient water circulation around the test unit; old indicator solution; unit not fully submerged.Relocate the unit to an area with better water flow; replace the indicator solution; ensure the unit is completely submerged.
Solution leaks from the test unit.Unit not properly sealed; damaged seal.Ensure the two halves of the unit are securely closed and aligned. Inspect the seal for any damage; if damaged, the unit may need replacement.
Inconsistent or inaccurate readings.Old indicator solution; external light interference; unit placed too close to CO2 diffuser.Replace the indicator solution; ensure the unit is not exposed to direct strong light; place the unit away from the direct CO2 diffusion point to get an average tank reading.
