2. Safety Information
Please read and understand all instructions before installation and use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or other hazards.
- Ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker before installing or servicing the transformer.
- This product is intended for indoor use in damp locations, as specified by UL & CUL listings.
- Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 60W. A minimum load of 1W is required for low load LED systems.
- Dimmers should always be installed on the primary (120V AC) side of the transformer. Use only electronic low voltage dimmers for smooth and continuous dimming.
- Proposition 65 Warning: This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, visit www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
3. Product Features
- Soft start feature to extend lamp life by delaying inrush current.
- Integrated short circuit and overload protection.
- 1W minimum load for compatibility with low load LED systems.
- Built-in on/off toggle switch at the base.
- Includes a 72-inch (6-foot) detachable cord with an open splice for wiring.
- Designed for smooth and continuous dimming with electronic low voltage dimmers.
- UL & CUL listed Class 2 for damp locations.
- White finish.
4. Setup and Installation
This transformer is a plug-in unit designed for straightforward installation. Ensure all connections are secure and comply with local electrical codes.
- Prepare Wiring: The transformer comes with a 72-inch detachable cord with an open splice. Connect the open splice wires to your low voltage fixtures (e.g., under cabinet lighting). Ensure proper polarity if required by your fixtures.
- Mounting: The transformer is a protruding type. Ensure it is placed in a location that allows for adequate ventilation and is protected from direct moisture, even though it is rated for damp locations.
- Connect Fixtures: Wire your 12V AC low voltage fixtures to the output side of the transformer. Ensure the total wattage of all connected fixtures does not exceed 60W and meets the minimum 1W load requirement.
- Power Connection: Once all low voltage connections are made and secured, plug the transformer into a standard 120V AC wall outlet.
- Dimmer Installation (Optional): If using a dimmer, install an electronic low voltage dimmer on the 120V AC input side of the circuit, before the transformer. Refer to the dimmer's instructions for installation.
5. Operating Instructions
The WAC Lighting EN-1260-P-AR-WT transformer is simple to operate:
- Power On/Off: Use the toggle switch located at the base of the transformer to turn the connected lighting system on or off.
- Dimming: If an electronic low voltage dimmer is installed on the input circuit, use the dimmer control to adjust the light output of the connected fixtures.
6. Maintenance
The WAC Lighting EN-1260-P-AR-WT Electronic Transformer requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Disconnect power before cleaning. Wipe the exterior of the transformer with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the cord and connections for any signs of damage or wear. If damage is found, discontinue use and replace the unit.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your transformer, refer to the following table:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Lights do not turn on. | No power to outlet; Transformer switch off; Loose connections; Overload protection activated; Faulty fixture. | Check outlet power; Ensure transformer switch is ON; Verify all wiring connections; Reduce total load; Test fixtures individually. |
| Lights flicker or dim inconsistently. | Incompatible dimmer; Load too low; Loose connections. | Ensure an electronic low voltage dimmer is used; Verify total load is above 1W; Check all wiring. |
| Transformer is hot to the touch. | Overload; Insufficient ventilation. | Reduce total connected load; Ensure transformer has adequate airflow. |
