Reversing Fan Direction
To change the direction of airflow for seasonal use, locate the reverse switch on the fan motor housing. Ensure the fan is completely off before changing the switch position.
- Downward Airflow (Summer): Set the switch for counter-clockwise rotation to create a cooling breeze.
- Upward Airflow (Winter): Set the switch for clockwise rotation to circulate warm air trapped near the ceiling.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your ceiling fan. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the fan blades and motor housing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
- Tightening Screws: Check all screws, especially those on the blade attachments and mounting bracket, at least twice a year. Tighten any loose screws as necessary to prevent wobbling and noise.
- Bulb Replacement: Ensure power is off before replacing bulbs. Use only the specified bulb types and wattages: 6 x 15W Candelabra-base for uplight and 1 x 100W Halogen for downlight.
- Glass Cleaning: The frosted glass shade can be carefully removed and washed with mild soap and water. Ensure it is completely dry before reattaching to prevent electrical hazards.
Troubleshooting
Before contacting customer service, review the following common issues and their solutions.
- Fan Does Not Start:
Check: Power supply to the fan, circuit breaker, wall switch, remote control battery.
Solution: Ensure all connections are secure and power is on. Replace remote battery if needed. - Fan Wobbles:
Check: Blade screws, mounting bracket, blade balance.
Solution: Tighten all blade screws and ensure the mounting bracket is securely fastened. If wobbling persists, use a blade balancing kit (sold separately) to correct imbalance. - Light Does Not Work:
Check: Bulbs, wiring connections to the light kit, light switch on remote/wall control.
Solution: Replace any burnt-out bulbs. Verify all wiring connections are secure. Ensure the light switch is in the 'on' position. - Noisy Operation:
Check: Loose screws, motor housing rubbing, blade obstruction.
Solution: Tighten all screws on the fan. Ensure no parts are rubbing against each other. Check for any obstructions in the blade path.
