- Water Safety: Always run cold water when operating the disposal.
- Personal Safety: Never put hands, fingers, or any other body parts into the disposal opening. Use a wooden dowel or similar non-metallic tool to dislodge items if necessary. Always wear safety glasses during installation.

This section provides a step-by-step guide for installing your Waste King L-3300 garbage disposal. For a visual demonstration, please refer to the official installation video below.
Video 1: How to Remove and Install a Waste King EZ Mount Disposal.
This video demonstrates the process of removing an old garbage disposal and installing a new Waste King EZ Mount disposal, covering preparation, removal, new mounting assembly installation, discharge elbow attachment, and final connection.
3.1. Preparation
- Ensure the disposal operates on 110-120V, 60 Hz, which is standard in most homes.
- Before starting, unplug your old garbage disposal and dishwasher (if applicable).
- If your disposal is hardwired, turn off the power at the electrical panel and disconnect any hardwired connections.
- Gather necessary tools: hammer, flathead screwdriver, wooden dowel or steel punch, plumber's putty, and safety glasses.
- If your dishwasher outlet hose is not 7/8 inch in diameter, you may need a dishwasher connector kit.
3.2. Removing the Old Garbage Disposal
- Disconnect the drain line and any other connections from the old disposal.
- If you have a dishwasher, remove the dishwasher drain hose.
- Most garbage disposals are removed by turning the lower mounting ring to your right. Hold onto the disposal as you turn to prevent it from falling. A screwdriver can be inserted into a tab to help turn the mounting ring.
- Remove the mounting assembly by loosening the mounting screws and popping off the snap ring.
- Remove the sink flange.
3.3. Installing the New Mounting Assembly
- Remove the mounting assembly from the new Waste King disposal by turning the mount ring to your right, raising and removing it.
- Push down the mount ring and remove the cushion mount.
- Unthread the support ring and remove the fiber gasket. Note: A rubber gasket can be used in place of plumber's putty with stainless steel sinks. Plumber's putty or sealant should be used with any other sink.
- Clean the area around the drain opening thoroughly.
- Position the sink flange with the rubber gasket in the center of the drain.
- Slide the fiber gasket onto the sink flange and thread on the support ring until it is tight.
- Place the mount ring over the sink flange with tabs pointing up, and align the inside groove on the cushion mount to the sink flange.
3.4. Attaching the Discharge Elbow
- If you have a dishwasher, use a wooden dowel or steel punch to remove the plug in the dishwasher inlet. Do not use a screwdriver or any other sharp instrument.
- Ensure the rubber gasket is on the discharge elbow.
- Slide the metal bracket over the elbow and insert it into the discharge outlet on the disposal.
- Tighten the two screws evenly to secure the elbow.
3.5. Connecting the Disposal to the Mounting Assembly
- Guide the mount tabs into the mounting ring slots and turn the mounting ring to your right until it locks into place.
- Align the discharge elbow with the drain piping and connect them securely.
- Insert a screwdriver into a mounting ring ear to ensure it's in the fully locked position. Ensure that the flange does not rotate or the seal could be broken.
- If there's a dishwasher, connect the dishwasher drain hose with a clamp. A 7/8-inch inside diameter hose will fit directly. If the hose size is different, use a dishwasher connector kit.
- Make sure all connections are secure.
- Run water to check for leaks.
- Plug in the power cord and turn the power back on at the electrical panel.

4. Operating Instructions
The Waste King L-3300 is a continuous feed garbage disposal, meaning it operates as long as the power is on.
- To Operate: Turn on the cold water faucet to a moderate flow. Then, activate the disposal using its wall switch.
- Feeding Food Waste: Gradually feed food waste into the disposal opening. Avoid overloading the unit.
- After Grinding: Allow the disposal and water to run for a few seconds after the grinding sound subsides to ensure all waste is flushed through the drain.
- Reset Button: The front-mounted reset button allows for easy resetting of the unit in case of an overload or jam.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Waste King L-3300 garbage disposal.
- Cleaning: The removable splashguard can be easily taken out for cleaning. Periodically clean the splashguard and the inside of the disposal with a mild detergent and brush.
- Odor Control: To help control odors, grind citrus peels (lemon, lime, orange) occasionally. This helps clean the grind chamber and leaves a fresh scent.
- Preventing Jams: Always run cold water before, during, and for a short period after grinding. Avoid putting large, hard, or fibrous items into the disposal.
6. Troubleshooting
If your Waste King L-3300 disposal encounters an issue, try these common troubleshooting steps:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Disposal does not start. | No power, tripped circuit breaker, or tripped reset button. | Check power outlet. Reset the circuit breaker. Press the red reset button on the front of the disposal. |
| Disposal hums but does not grind. | Jam in the grind chamber. | Turn off power. Use a wooden dowel or broom handle to dislodge the item by rotating the impellers. Never use your hands. |
| Leaking from the disposal. | Loose connections or damaged seals. | Check all plumbing connections for tightness. Inspect gaskets and seals for damage. Re-tighten mounting ring if necessary. |
| Slow draining. | Partial clog in drain line or disposal. | Run disposal with plenty of cold water. Try grinding ice cubes to help clear minor clogs. If persistent, a plumber may be needed. |
