- Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.
- Press the red power button located on the main body of the vacuum to turn it on.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures your Dyson DC24 continues to perform optimally and maintains its suction power.
5.1 Emptying the Dust Bin
Empty the dust bin when dirt reaches the MAX fill line. Do not overfill.
- Press the dust bin release button to detach the bin from the vacuum.
- Hold the dust bin over a trash can. Press the red bin release button on the bottom of the bin to open the base and empty the contents.
- Close the bin base firmly until it clicks. Reattach the dust bin to the vacuum.
5.2 Cleaning Filters
Your DC24 features a washable HEPA filter. For best performance, wash the filter at least every 3 months, or more frequently with heavy use.
- Locate the filter, typically found within the cyclone assembly or near the ball.
- Remove the filter and wash it with cold water only. Do not use detergents.
- Squeeze excess water and allow the filter to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting. Ensure it is bone dry before placing it back into the vacuum.
5.3 Clearing Brush Bar Obstructions
Periodically check the brush bar for tangled hair or debris, which can reduce cleaning effectiveness.
- Unplug the vacuum from the power outlet.
- Lay the vacuum flat and inspect the brush bar.
- Use scissors or a seam ripper to carefully cut and remove any tangled hair or threads. Avoid pulling forcefully.
- Ensure the brush bar spins freely before resuming operation.
