2. Setup

2.1 Connecting Multiple Guide Rails

For cuts longer than 55 inches, multiple Festool guide rails can be securely connected using accessory guide rail connectors (sold separately). This allows for customized cutting lengths and easier transportation and storage of longer setups.

1. Place the first guide rail on a stable surface, ensuring the T-slots are accessible.
2. Insert the track connector into the T-slot at the end of the first rail.
3. Tighten the screws on the track connector using a slotted screwdriver to secure it firmly within the T-slot.
4. Slide the second guide rail onto the exposed portion of the track connector, ensuring a tight and flush connection.

2.2 Securing the Guide Rail to the Workpiece

3. Operation

3.1 General Cutting with TS Saws

The Festool 55" Guide Rail is designed to work seamlessly with Festool TS Plunge-Cut Saws to make precision cuts. The integrated splinterguard aligns perfectly to your cut line, preventing tear-out on both cross-grain and rip cuts.

1. Position the guide rail on your workpiece along the desired cut line.

3.2 Using with OF Routers

The guide rail can also be used with Festool OF Routers for creating dados, flutes, or ploughs. A guide stop adapter (sold separately) is required for this application.

1. Attach the guide stop adapter to your Festool OF Router.
2. Insert the router with the attached guide stop adapter onto the guide rail.
3. Adjust the guide stop adapter to the desired position for your routing task.
4. Perform the routing operation, guiding the router along the rail.

3.3 Hose and Cord Management

To prevent your vacuum hose and power cord from catching on the guide rail during operation, a hose and cord deflector (sold separately) can be used.

1. Slide the hose and cord deflector into the T-slot on the back of the guide rail.
2. Tighten the knob on the deflector to secure it in place.
3. Route your vacuum hose and power cord through the deflector. This will guide them smoothly along the rail as you work.
