2. Setup
2.1 Connecting Multiple Guide Rails
For cuts longer than 55 inches, multiple Festool guide rails can be securely connected using accessory guide rail connectors (sold separately). This allows for customized cutting lengths and easier transportation and storage of longer setups.
- Place the first guide rail on a stable surface, ensuring the T-slots are accessible.
- Insert the track connector into the T-slot at the end of the first rail.
- Tighten the screws on the track connector using a slotted screwdriver to secure it firmly within the T-slot.
- Slide the second guide rail onto the exposed portion of the track connector, ensuring a tight and flush connection.
- Tighten the remaining screws on the track connector to secure the second rail.

2.2 Securing the Guide Rail to the Workpiece
The guide rail features non-skid, self-clamping strips on the bottom to prevent movement during cutting. For additional security, especially with longer cuts or specific materials, use Festool clamps.
- Quick Clamps: These clamps slide into the T-slots on the top or bottom of the guide rail and can be ratcheted to secure the rail to the workpiece. They are ideal for quick adjustments and firm holds.
- Screw Clamps: Designed for use with MFT tables or the guide rail's T-slots, these clamps provide a strong, stable hold. They can be inserted into the bench holes of an MFT table or directly into the guide rail's T-slots to clamp the material or the rail itself.

3. Operation
3.1 General Cutting with TS Saws
The Festool 55" Guide Rail is designed to work seamlessly with Festool TS Plunge-Cut Saws to make precision cuts. The integrated splinterguard aligns perfectly to your cut line, preventing tear-out on both cross-grain and rip cuts.
- Position the guide rail on your workpiece along the desired cut line.
- Secure the guide rail using the non-skid strips or additional clamps as needed.
- Place your Festool TS Saw onto the guide rail. The saw's base will engage with the rail's track, ensuring a straight path.
- Perform the cut, allowing the saw to glide smoothly along the rail.

3.2 Using with OF Routers
The guide rail can also be used with Festool OF Routers for creating dados, flutes, or ploughs. A guide stop adapter (sold separately) is required for this application.
- Attach the guide stop adapter to your Festool OF Router.
- Insert the router with the attached guide stop adapter onto the guide rail.
- Adjust the guide stop adapter to the desired position for your routing task.
- Perform the routing operation, guiding the router along the rail.

3.3 Hose and Cord Management
To prevent your vacuum hose and power cord from catching on the guide rail during operation, a hose and cord deflector (sold separately) can be used.
- Slide the hose and cord deflector into the T-slot on the back of the guide rail.
- Tighten the knob on the deflector to secure it in place.
- Route your vacuum hose and power cord through the deflector. This will guide them smoothly along the rail as you work.
Video 5: Shows how to install and utilize the Festool Hose & Cord Deflector to prevent snagging during track saw operation.
4. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Festool Guide Rail, regular maintenance is recommended:
- Cleaning: Keep the guide rail clean from sawdust, debris, and adhesive residues. Use a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution if necessary.
- Splinterguard Replacement: The integrated splinterguard is designed to be sacrificial. If it becomes worn or damaged, it can be easily replaced to maintain splinter-free cuts.
- Non-Skid Strip Replacement: If the non-skid, self-clamping strips lose their grip, they can be replaced to ensure the rail remains stable during use.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Festool Guide Rail, consider the following:
- Rail Slipping: Ensure the non-skid strips are clean and free of debris. If they are worn, replace them. For added security, use Festool clamps.
- Inaccurate Cuts: Verify that the guide rail is securely clamped and not moving during the cut. Check the condition of the splinterguard and replace if damaged. Ensure your saw or router is properly aligned with the rail.
- Difficulty Connecting Rails: Ensure the track connectors are fully inserted and tightened. Check for any debris in the T-slots that might obstruct a flush connection.
