Furman M-8Lx Standard Level Power Conditioner User Manual

1. Introduction

It features a 15 Amp capacity, nine outlets (eight rear, one front), and two retractable incandescent front-panel light fixtures with dimmer control for convenient rack illumination.

4. Setup

Rack Mounting

The M-8Lx is designed for standard 19-inch equipment racks. Secure the unit using four rack screws (not included) through the mounting holes on the front panel. Ensure the unit is firmly seated in the rack.

Power Connection

  1. Ensure the M-8Lx power switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Plug the integrated AC power cord from the M-8Lx into a properly grounded 120V AC wall outlet.

Connecting Equipment

  1. With the M-8Lx power switch OFF, connect your electronic equipment (amplifiers, mixers, etc.) to the eight switched outlets on the rear panel.
  2. The front panel switched outlet can be used for temporary connections or devices requiring easy access.
  3. Ensure that the total current draw of all connected equipment does not exceed the M-8Lx's 15 Amp rating.

5. Operating Instructions

Powering On/Off

Press the front panel power switch to the ON position to supply power to all connected outlets. Press it again to the OFF position to cut power.

Using the Pullout Lights

  1. Gently pull out the two light fixtures from the front panel until they are fully extended.
  2. Rotate the Dimmer Control knob to adjust the brightness of the lights to your desired level.
  3. To turn off the lights, push them back into the unit. The dimmer control does not have a full 'off' position for the lights when extended.

Protection OK Indicator

The green 'Protection OK' LED on the front panel indicates that the M-8Lx's surge suppression circuitry is active and providing protection. If this LED is not illuminated, the protection circuitry may have been compromised, and the unit should be serviced.

6. Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the unit, disconnect it from the power source and wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.

Circuit Breaker Reset

If the M-8Lx experiences an overload (e.g., too many devices drawing excessive current), the rear panel circuit breaker may trip, cutting power to the outlets. To reset, disconnect some equipment, then push the circuit breaker button back in. If it trips repeatedly, reduce the load or investigate the connected equipment for faults.
