  5. Initial Rinse Cycle:
    • Plug the machine into a grounded power outlet.
    • Place a container under the steam wand and another under the portafilter.
    • Turn on the machine. Allow it to heat up until the indicator light signals readiness.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Preparing Espresso

  1. Grind Coffee: Use freshly ground espresso coffee. For best results, grind coffee just before brewing.
  2. Fill Portafilter: Place the desired filter basket (single or double shot) into the portafilter. Fill with ground coffee, ensuring it is level. For ESE pods, use the dedicated ESE pod adapter and filter basket.
  3. Tamp Coffee: Lightly tamp the ground coffee with a tamper to create an even, compact puck.
  4. Attach Portafilter: Insert the portafilter into the brew group and turn it firmly to the right until it is securely locked.
  5. Pre-heat: Ensure the machine is heated and the "ready" indicator light is on.
  6. Brew Espresso: Place pre-heated cups under the portafilter spouts. Press the brew button to start extraction. The 15-bar pump pressure will ensure optimal extraction and crema formation.
  7. Stop Brewing: Press the brew button again to stop the flow once the desired volume of espresso is reached.

5.2. Frothing Milk (Pannarello Steam Wand)

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) up to one-third full.
  2. Activate Steam: Turn the control knob to the steam function. Wait for the steam indicator light to illuminate, indicating the machine has reached steaming temperature.
  3. Purge Steam Wand: Briefly open the steam knob to release any condensed water from the wand. Close the knob.
  4. Froth Milk: Immerse the Pannarello steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam knob fully. Move the pitcher up and down to incorporate air and create foam.
  5. Heat Milk: Once desired foam is achieved, lower the wand deeper into the milk to heat it to the desired temperature (typically 60-70°C / 140-160°F).
  6. Stop Steaming: Close the steam knob and remove the pitcher.
  7. Clean Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly open the steam knob again to clear any milk from inside the wand.

5.3. Hot Water Dispensing

  1. Activate Steam: Turn the control knob to the steam function. Wait for the steam indicator light.
  2. Dispense Water: Place a cup under the Pannarello steam wand. Open the steam knob to dispense hot water for tea, hot chocolate, or other beverages.
