2. Safety Information

3. Installation Instructions

Follow these steps for proper installation of your Leviton CR20-W duplex receptacle.

  2. Prepare Wires:
    • Strip approximately 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) of insulation from the ends of the circuit wires.
    • For stranded wire, twist the strands tightly together.
  3. Identify Wires:
    • Hot/Live Wire: Typically black or red. Connects to the brass-colored terminal screws.
    • Neutral Wire: Typically white. Connects to the silver-colored terminal screws.
    • Ground Wire: Typically bare copper or green. Connects to the green hexagonal ground screw.
  4. Connect Wires:
    • Loosen the terminal screws on the side of the receptacle.
    • Hook each wire clockwise around its corresponding terminal screw, ensuring no bare wire extends beyond the screw head.
    • Tighten the screws firmly to secure the connections.
    • For the self-grounding feature, ensure the receptacle's mounting strap makes good contact with a properly grounded metal electrical box. If using a non-metallic box, connect the ground wire directly to the green ground screw on the receptacle.
  5. Mount Receptacle: Carefully fold the wires into the electrical box, leaving enough room for the receptacle. Insert the receptacle into the box and secure it with the captive mounting screws provided.
  6. Install Wallplate: Attach the decorative wallplate (not included) over the receptacle.
  7. Restore Power: Turn the power back ON at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
  8. Test: Test the receptacle with a known working device or an outlet tester.

4. Operating Instructions

The Leviton CR20-W duplex receptacle functions as a standard electrical outlet. To operate:

  1. Ensure the receptacle is properly installed and power is supplied to the circuit.
  2. Insert the plug of your electrical device into one of the two available outlets on the receptacle.
