5. Operating Instructions

This section guides you through the process of binding a document using the ThermaBind T400.

  1. Prepare Your Document: Gather all pages for your document and ensure they are neatly aligned.
  2. Select Thermal Cover: Use the integrated cover selection guide to choose the correct size thermal binding cover for your document's thickness. The cover should be slightly larger than your document's total thickness.
  3. Insert Document into Cover: Carefully insert your prepared document pages into the thermal binding cover, ensuring the spine of the pages sits firmly against the adhesive strip inside the cover.
  4. Place Document in Binding Channel: Open the machine's cover and place the document (within its thermal cover) into the binding channel. Ensure the spine of the cover is fully submerged in the heating element. For multiple smaller documents, utilize the extra-large binding channel and document support to hold them upright.
  5. Adjust Heat Settings: Based on the cover thickness and number of pages, select the appropriate heat setting using the controls on the panel. Refer to the machine's guide for recommended settings.
  6. Start Binding Cycle: Close the machine's cover or press the start button (if applicable). The machine will begin the binding cycle. A variable timer will count down the binding duration.
  7. "Cycle Complete" Signal: Once the binding cycle is complete, the machine will emit an audible signal and/or a visual indicator light will change.
  8. Remove and Cool Document: Carefully remove the hot, newly bound document from the binding channel. Immediately place it in the integrated cooling tray at the rear of the machine. Allow the document to cool completely for several minutes to ensure the adhesive sets properly and creates a strong, durable bind. Do not handle or open the document until it is cool.
