Operating Instructions

General Operation

  1. Ensure the 9-Volt battery is installed in the main unit.
  2. Connect the cable to be tested to the appropriate ports on the main and remote units.
  3. Select the desired test mode (RJ45 or Coax) using the switch on the side of the main unit.
  4. Press the TEST button to initiate the cable test.
  5. Observe the LED indicators on both the main and remote units to interpret the test results.

RJ45 (LAN) Cable Testing

This mode tests RJ45 patch cords and network installations for proper wiring and continuity.

  1. Connect the RJ45 cable to the main and remote units.
  2. Set the switch on the main unit to RJ45.
  3. Press the TEST button. The LEDs on both units will sequentially light up from 1 to 8, indicating the status of each wire pair.
  4. Interpretation of LEDs:
    • All LEDs light up sequentially on both units: Indicates a correctly wired cable (Pass).
    • LEDs do not light up or skip a number: Indicates an open circuit (Open).
    • Multiple LEDs light up simultaneously or out of sequence: Indicates a short circuit, miswire, or split pair.
    • "Low Batt" LED: Indicates the 9-Volt battery needs replacement.

Coaxial (A/V) Cable Testing

This mode tests coaxial cables (F-type, BNC, RCA with adapters) for continuity and shorts.

  1. Connect the coaxial cable to the main and remote units (using adapters if necessary).
  2. Set the switch on the main unit to COAX.
  3. Press the TEST button.
