Setup

1. Installing the Battery

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the camera.
  2. Slide the latch to open the cover.
  3. Insert the Lithium-Ion battery (or AA batteries) according to the polarity indicators inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely until it latches.

2. Inserting a Memory Card

The camera supports SD and SDHC memory cards (not included). A memory card is required to store a significant number of photos and videos.

  1. Locate the memory card slot, usually near the battery compartment.
  2. Open the memory card slot cover.
  3. Insert the SD/SDHC card with the metal contacts facing the correct direction, as indicated by a diagram near the slot.
  4. Push the card gently until it clicks into place.
  5. Close the memory card slot cover securely.

3. Initial Power On

  1. Slide the power switch to the 'On' position.
  2. The LCD screen will turn on.
  3. Follow any on-screen prompts to set the date, time, and language.

Operating Instructions

1. Taking Photos

  • Selecting a Mode: Rotate the mode dial to select your desired shooting mode (e.g., Automatic, Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual, Sports, Smart Scene).
  • Focusing: Press the shutter button halfway down to focus. The camera will beep and the focus indicator will light up when focus is achieved.
  • Capturing: Press the shutter button fully down to take the picture. The camera utilizes the exclusive Kodak Color Science Chip for vibrant, true-to-life colors.
  • Zoom: Use the zoom lever (typically around the shutter button) to adjust the 12x optical zoom. The camera also features 5x digital zoom.
  • Image Stabilization: The camera features optical image stabilization to reduce blur, especially at longer zoom ranges or in low light conditions.
  • Flash Modes: The built-in flash can be set to Auto, On, Off, Slow Synch, or Rear Curtain Synch. Adjust this setting via the menu or a dedicated button.
  • HD Picture Capture: Capture still images in 16:9 format for viewing on high-definition devices.

2. Recording Videos

  • Rotate the mode dial to the video recording setting.
  • Press the shutter button to start recording. Press it again to stop.
  • Videos are recorded in VGA (640 x 480) at 15 frames per second with sound.
  • On-camera editing features allow for basic video manipulation, including saving single frames and creating multi-up prints (1, 4, 9, or 16-up).

3. Reviewing and Managing Images/Videos

  • Playback: Press the Playback button (often indicated by a triangle icon) to view your captured media on the 2.5-inch LCD.
  • Navigation: Use the directional pad to scroll through images and videos.
  • Orientation Sensor: The camera automatically rotates images for correct viewing, whether shot vertically or horizontally.
  • On-Camera Enhancements: Access features like cropping, capture gridline display, and histogram via the menu to refine your pictures directly on the camera. Kodak Perfect Touch technology can automatically enhance image quality.
  • Share Button: Use the dedicated Share button to tag pictures for later printing or emailing.
  • Favorites: Mark special pictures as Favorites to keep them easily accessible without filling internal memory.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Camera

  • Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for camera lenses. Avoid touching the lens with your fingers.
  • LCD Screen: Gently wipe the screen with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn smudges, use a screen cleaner designed for electronics.
  • Camera Body: Wipe the camera body with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.

2. Battery Care
