  • 3 AAA batteries (included for parent unit)

2. Setting Up Your Safety 1st High-Def Digital Monitor

2.1 Powering On and Charging

  1. Plug the AC adapter into the Baby Unit and into a standard electrical outlet.
  2. Plug the second AC adapter into the Parent Unit and into a standard electrical outlet. The Parent Unit uses rechargeable AAA batteries (included) and can operate cordlessly once charged.
  3. Allow approximately 30 hours for the Parent Unit to fully charge before initial cordless use.

2.2 Unit Placement

  1. Place the Baby Unit in the child's room, ensuring it is at least 6 feet away from the crib for optimal sound clarity and to prevent interference.
  2. Position the Parent Unit in a location where you can easily hear and monitor your child. The monitor offers up to a 1000 ft. range.
  3. Avoid placing units near other electronic devices that may cause interference, such as cordless phones or humidifiers.

3. Operating Your Monitor

3.1 Sound Lights and Pager Button

  • The Parent Unit features sound lights that provide a visual indication of your child's sound level, useful when audio is muted or in noisy environments.
  • Use the pager button to locate the Parent Unit if misplaced.

3.2 Indicators

  • A Link Indicator confirms a secure connection between the Parent and Baby Units.
  • Out of Range and Low Battery Indicators will alert you when the Parent Unit is too far from the Baby Unit or when its battery needs recharging.

3.3 Volume Controls

Adjust the volume on the Parent Unit to your preferred listening level. If static or buzzing occurs at maximum volume, slightly reduce the volume.

3.4 Portable Parent Unit

The Parent Unit is designed for portability with a belt clip, allowing you to move freely around your home while staying connected to your child. It can be used cordlessly on battery power or plugged into an outlet.

4. Maintenance and Care

4.1 Cleaning

Wipe both the Parent and Baby Units with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

4.2 Battery Care

Ensure the rechargeable batteries in the Parent Unit are kept in place even when plugged in. Recharge the Parent Unit when the low battery indicator is active.

5. Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Static or Buzzing Sound: This can occur if the monitor is too close to other digital electronics or at maximum volume. Try moving the Baby Unit further away from other devices or slightly reducing the Parent Unit's volume.
  • No Link/Out of Range: Ensure both units are powered on and within the 1000 ft. range. Obstacles like thick walls can reduce range.
  • Low Battery Indicator: Recharge the Parent Unit by plugging it into an AC outlet.

6. Important Child Safety Information

Creating a secure home environment is crucial for your child's safety. Always ensure children are supervised by informed caregivers. Childproofing products are a valuable tool but are never a substitute for adult supervision.

General Childproofing Tips:

  • Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms: Install and regularly test smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors on every level of your home and in all sleeping areas. Replace batteries at least twice a year and replace units every 10 years or as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Fire Extinguishers: Keep a working fire extinguisher in the kitchen, bedroom, and utility room.
  • Emergency Contacts: Store emergency numbers (e.g., poison control: 1-800-222-1222, doctor, local emergency services) near every phone.
  • Secure Furniture and TVs: Anchor heavy furniture, such as entertainment centers, bookcases, and TVs, to the wall to prevent tipping.
  • Outlet Covers: Use covers on all electrical outlets to prevent electrical shock hazards.
  • Cabinet and Drawer Latches: Install latches on cabinets and drawers, especially in the kitchen and bathroom, to keep cleaners, chemicals, medicines, and sharp objects out of reach.
  • Corner Cushions: Protect children from sharp edges on furniture by installing corner cushions.
  • Window Blind Cords: Secure dangling window blind cords out of your child's reach to prevent strangulation hazards.
  • Stove and Oven Safety: Use stove knob covers and oven door locks to prevent children from operating them. Keep pot handles turned away from the front of the stove and use back burners when possible.
  • Safety Gates: Install safety gates at the top and bottom of staircases and in doorways leading to parent-only rooms or hazardous areas.
  • Toilet Locks: Use toilet locks to keep children and pets out of the toilet.
