Logisys RM01 1 Channel Wireless Control On/Off Relay User Manual

Model: C7235E | Brand: Logisys

Introduction

The Logisys RM01 is a 1-channel wireless control system designed for remotely switching 12V DC accessories or lighting. This unit features a heavy-duty 12V relay capable of handling up to 15 amps (180W) and includes a compact RF keyfob for simple on/off control. It is suitable for various applications such as LED lighting, car modifications, stereo systems, and other 12V electronics.

Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and effective operation of the Logisys RM01. Ensure all power sources are disconnected before beginning installation.

Wiring Diagram:

  • Red Wire: Connect to the positive (+) 12V DC power source. This should be fused appropriately for the connected load.
  • Black Wire: Connect to the negative (-) ground.
  • White Wire: This is the switched positive (+) output. Connect this to the positive (+) input of the device you wish to control (e.g., LED lights, amplifier remote turn-on).
  • Blue Wire: This is the antenna. For optimal range, ensure it is not coiled or obstructed by metal.

Important Considerations:

  • The unit is designed for 12V DC systems only. Connecting to higher voltages will damage the unit.
  • Ensure the total current draw of the connected device(s) does not exceed 15 amps (180W). Overloading the relay can cause damage or fire.
  • Mount the control unit in a dry location, away from excessive heat or moisture.
  • For vehicle applications, ensure all wiring is secured and protected from abrasion or pinching.
  • Remove the plastic battery insulator from the keyfob before first use.

Operating Instructions

The Logisys RM01 operates with a simple on/off function via the included RF keyfob.

  1. Ensure the control unit is properly wired and powered.
  2. Press the "ON" button on the keyfob to activate the connected device. A faint click may be heard from the relay within the control unit, indicating activation.
  3. Press the "OFF" button on the keyfob to deactivate the connected device. Another click may be heard, indicating deactivation.

Range: The effective operating range is approximately 30 meters (100 feet) in an open area without obstacles. Obstructions such as metal structures or walls can reduce this range.

Multiple Units: Each RM01 unit operates on one of 500 different hard-coded remote frequencies. This allows for the use of multiple units in the same proximity without interference, as long as they are not programmed to the same frequency (which is unlikely with hard-coded units).

Maintenance

The Logisys RM01 is designed for low maintenance. Regular checks can help ensure longevity and reliable operation.

  • Cleaning: Keep the control unit and keyfob clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery Replacement (Keyfob): If the keyfob's range decreases significantly or it stops responding, the battery may need replacement. Refer to the keyfob's specific instructions for battery type and replacement procedure. Typically, these use small coin-cell batteries.
  • Wiring Inspection: Periodically inspect all wiring connections for tightness and signs of corrosion or damage. Ensure insulation is intact.
  • Environmental Protection: Ensure the unit remains protected from direct water exposure and extreme temperatures to prevent internal damage.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Device does not turn on/off.
  • No power to the control unit.
  • Keyfob battery is dead or low.
  • Incorrect wiring.
  • Device connected is faulty.
  • Unit is overloaded.
  • Check 12V DC power connection and fuse.
  • Replace keyfob battery.
  • Verify all wiring connections (Red to +, Black to -, White to device +).
  • Test the connected device directly to 12V power.
  • Ensure load does not exceed 15 amps.
Reduced remote range.
  • Keyfob battery is low.
  • Antenna is obstructed or coiled.
  • Environmental interference.
  • Replace keyfob battery.
  • Ensure the blue antenna wire is extended and clear of metal objects.
  • Relocate the control unit if possible, away from large metal objects or other RF sources.
Relay clicks but device doesn't activate.
  • Faulty connection to the device.
  • Device itself is faulty.
  • Overload condition (relay may click but not pass current effectively).
  • Check the white wire connection to the device.
  • Test the connected device directly.
  • Reduce the load or ensure it is within the 15 amp limit.
