Operating the Security Lock
To secure your laptop, follow these steps:
- Attach the lock to your laptop as described in the "Setup" section.
- Wrap the steel cable around a sturdy, immovable object such as a table leg, desk anchor, or heavy furniture. Ensure the object cannot be easily moved or detached.
- Pass the lock head or the cable loop through the other end of the cable to create a secure loop around the object.
- Ensure the lock head is securely inserted into your laptop's security slot and rotated.
- Scramble the combination dials to prevent unauthorized access.

Maintenance
The LogiLink NBS002 security lock requires minimal maintenance to ensure its longevity and proper function.
- Keep the lock mechanism clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Avoid exposing the lock to extreme temperatures or harsh chemicals, which can damage the materials.
- Periodically check the cable for any signs of wear or damage. If the cable is compromised, replace the lock.
- Do not attempt to force the lock or its components, as this may cause damage.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot set combination: Ensure you are pressing the reset button/screw firmly and holding it while setting the new code. If the button is stuck, try gently wiggling it or cleaning around it.
- Lock will not open: Double-check that you are entering the correct 3-digit combination. Ensure each dial is precisely aligned with the indicator mark. If you have forgotten your combination, unfortunately, there is no master key or override function for combination locks. The lock will need to be replaced.
- Lock head does not fit into laptop slot: Verify that your laptop has a standard Kensington security slot. Some ultra-thin laptops may use a different, smaller security slot type. Ensure there are no obstructions in the slot.
- Cable appears damaged: If the steel cable shows signs of fraying, cuts, or significant wear, the security of the lock may be compromised. It is recommended to replace the lock immediately.
