  2. Secure the bolt and keep using the provided one-way security screws. Note: These screws cannot be easily undone once installed.

Recess Fitting (If Required)

  1. After fitting the bolt, position the keep plate. Mark its position and recess it into the frame.
  2. Drill pilot holes as described for flush fitting and secure the keep plate with the security screws.

Operating Instructions: Setting and Recoding the Combination

The bolt is factory set to 0000. To change the combination, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the bolt is in the unlocked position (retracted).
  2. Locate the small security screw on the side of the bolt mechanism (refer to Figure 2). Remove this screw.
  3. Draw the bolt back to its stop position. Lift the bolt knob and draw it back to a second stop position. Push it down to lock it in this recoding position.
  4. Carefully rotate the coding wheels to your desired new number, aligning them with the coding mark. Make a note of your new code immediately.
  5. Without moving the wheels, reverse the procedure of step 3 to release the bolt from the recoding position.
  6. Replace the security screw.

Important: For external installations, always lock the bolt even in the open position. This prevents unauthorized recoding.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your Squire Combi 4 locking bolt, consider the following maintenance tips:

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the lock body and wheels with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Lubrication: For optimal performance, especially in outdoor environments, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts of the bolt mechanism and combination wheels once or twice a year. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust.
  • Inspection: Regularly check the mounting screws for tightness and the overall condition of the lock for any signs of wear or damage.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Combi 4 locking bolt, try the following:

  • Bolt not moving smoothly: Ensure the combination is correctly aligned. Clean the mechanism and apply a silicone lubricant as described in the maintenance section. Check for any obstructions.
  • Difficulty setting/recoding combination: Ensure the security screw is fully removed and the bolt knob is correctly positioned in the second stop for recoding. Refer to the 'Operating Instructions' section.
  • Forgotten combination: Unfortunately, if the combination is forgotten and not recorded, there is no master key or override function. The lock will need to be replaced. Always keep a secure record of your combination.
