Setup

Power Connection

Connect a compatible 12V DC power supply to the "Power" input on the pedal. Ensure the power supply meets the pedal's requirements to prevent damage.

Audio Connections

The Nova Delay supports both mono and stereo operation.

Mono Setup: Connect your guitar to the "R input L mono" jack. Connect the "R output L mono" jack to your amplifier or next pedal in the signal chain.
Stereo Setup: Connect your guitar or preceding stereo effect to both "R input L mono" and "R input R" jacks. Connect the "R output L mono" and "R output R" jacks to your stereo amplifier setup or subsequent stereo effects.

Operating the Nova Delay

Controls Overview

The Nova Delay features several knobs and buttons for precise control over your delay effects:

Delay Knob: Adjusts the delay time in milliseconds.
Feedback Knob: Controls the number of repeats.
Color Knob: Adjusts the tone of the delay repeats, from bright digital to warm analog.
Mod Level Knob: Controls the intensity of modulation applied to the delay.
Mix Level Knob: Blends the dry signal with the wet (effected) signal.
Manual/Preset Footswitch: Toggles between Manual mode (live adjustments) and Preset mode (recalling saved settings).
Tap Tempo Footswitch: Tap twice or more to set the delay tempo.
Mod Style Button: Selects different modulation styles.
Type Button: Cycles through the 6 delay types (Delay line, Dynamic, Reverse, Ping-pong, Pan, Slap-back).
Subdiv Button: Selects delay subdivisions (e.g., quarter notes, eighth notes, triplets).

Saving and Recalling Presets

The Nova Delay allows you to store up to 9 user-programmable presets. To save a preset:

Adjust the knobs and select the desired delay type and subdivision.
Press and hold the "Manual/Preset" footswitch until the display flashes, indicating the preset is saved.
To recall a preset, press the "Manual/Preset" footswitch to enter Preset mode, then use the "Type" or "Subdiv" buttons to cycle through the saved presets.

Audio Tapping

The Audio Tapping feature allows you to set the delay tempo by playing your instrument. Simply play a rhythmic pattern, and the pedal will detect the tempo and adjust the delay time accordingly.

Maintenance

Keep the pedal clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.
Avoid exposing the pedal to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
Do not attempt to open the pedal casing or perform internal repairs. Refer to qualified service personnel for any issues.
Always disconnect power before cleaning or moving the pedal.

Troubleshooting

No Sound or Weak Signal

Check all cable connections (input, output, power) to ensure they are secure.
Verify the power supply is correctly connected and providing the specified voltage (12V DC).
Ensure the "Mix Level" knob is not set to full dry (no effect) or full wet (no dry signal).
Bypass the pedal to check if the issue is with the pedal itself or other components in your signal chain.

Unexpected Delay Behavior / Preset Issues

If presets 1, 3, 5, or 7 exhibit unexpected shared delay times, this is due to a factory global tap tempo setting. To disable this and allow individual editing for these presets:
- Select the affected preset (e.g., Preset 1).
- Ensure the "Preset" button is illuminated.
- Press and hold the "Type" button. Observe the "Preset" button for a quick flash (it will not rapidly blink, but briefly dim and re-illuminate).
- Repeat this process for each of the global presets (1, 3, 5, 7) to enable independent control.
If the display shows "8888" or other error codes, try power cycling the unit (unplug and re-plug the power supply). If the issue persists, contact TC Electronic support.
