2. Setup and Installation

Before using your Detecto MCS-60H scale, ensure it is properly set up in a suitable location.

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the scale from its packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage during transit.
  2. Location: Choose a stable and secure overhead support from which to hang the scale. Ensure the support can safely bear the weight of the scale plus the maximum load (60 lbs).
  3. Hanging the Scale: Use the integrated top hook or swivel shackle to securely attach the scale to your chosen overhead support. Ensure it hangs freely and is not obstructed.
  4. Attaching the S-Hook: The included 4-inch (10 cm) S-hook should be attached to the bottom hook of the scale. This S-hook is used to suspend the items to be weighed.
  5. Zero Adjustment: Before weighing, ensure the scale's pointer is at the zero mark when nothing is suspended from the bottom hook. If it is not, gently adjust the zeroing mechanism (if available, typically a small knob or screw near the dial) until the pointer aligns with zero.

3. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for accurate weighing with your Detecto MCS-60H scale.

  1. Preparation: Ensure the scale is hanging freely and the pointer is at the zero mark.
  2. Loading the Item: Carefully attach the item to be weighed to the S-hook at the bottom of the scale. Ensure the item is securely fastened and does not swing excessively.
  3. Reading the Weight: Allow the pointer to settle completely. Read the weight indicated by the red pointer on the dial. The dial is marked in pounds (lb) with increments for precise measurement. The scale has a 60 lb capacity with 1/10 lb divisions.
  4. Unloading: Once the reading is taken, carefully remove the item from the S-hook. The pointer should return to the zero position.
