Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your iHome iHC5 Wireless Bluetooth Clock Radio. The iHC5 is a versatile device designed to enhance your audio experience, offering Bluetooth connectivity for wireless music streaming and hands-free calling, a dual alarm clock, AM/FM radio, and an auxiliary input for various audio devices.

1. Setup

1.1 Unpacking and Components

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure the following items are present:

1.2 Power Connection

  1. Connect the AC adapter to the DC input jack on the back of the iHC5 unit.
  2. Plug the AC adapter into a standard wall outlet.

1.3 Battery Installation (Backup)

For alarm and clock settings backup during power outages, install 3 AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment located on the bottom of the unit. Ensure correct polarity.

1.4 Device Cradle Attachment

The included device cradle can be attached to the iHC5 unit to hold your cell phone or other portable device. Align the cradle with the designated slot on the unit and gently push until it clicks into place.

2. Operating Instructions

2.1 Power On/Off

Press the Power button located on the unit or remote control to turn the iHC5 on or off.

2.2 Setting the Clock

  1. With the unit powered on, press and hold the Time Set button.
  2. Use the +/- buttons to adjust the hour, then press Time Set again.
  3. Use the +/- buttons to adjust the minute, then press Time Set to confirm.

2.3 Alarm Settings

The iHC5 features dual alarms (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2) that can be set independently.

  1. Press and hold the Alarm 1 or Alarm 2 button.
  2. Use the +/- buttons to set the desired wake time, then press the respective Alarm button again.
  3. Select the alarm source (Bluetooth, Radio, or Buzzer) using the Source button, then press the Alarm button.
  4. Adjust the alarm volume using the Volume buttons, then press the Alarm button to confirm.
  5. To activate/deactivate an alarm, press the Alarm 1 On/Off or Alarm 2 On/Off button.
  6. Press the Snooze button on top of the unit to temporarily silence a sounding alarm.

2.4 Radio Operation (AM/FM)

  1. Press the Mode button until "Radio" is displayed.
  2. Press the AM/FM button to switch between bands.
  3. Use the Tune +/- buttons to manually tune to a station, or press and hold to auto-scan.
  4. To save a preset: Tune to the desired station, press and hold a Preset (1-12) button until the preset number flashes.
  5. To recall a preset: Briefly press a Preset (1-12) button.

2.5 Bluetooth Pairing and Streaming

The iHC5 supports Bluetooth Versions 1.1, 1.2, and 2.0 for wireless audio streaming (A2DP) and hands-free calling.

  1. Press the Mode button until "Bluetooth" is displayed. The Bluetooth indicator will flash.
  2. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (e.g., cell phone, PDA, computer), enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
  3. Select "iHome iHC5" from the list of found devices. If prompted for a passcode, enter "0000".
  4. Once paired, the Bluetooth indicator on the iHC5 will glow solid. You can now stream audio wirelessly from your device (up to approximately 30 feet).

2.6 Speakerphone Function

When paired with a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone, the iHC5 can function as a speakerphone.

2.7 Auxiliary Input

Connect non-Bluetooth audio devices (e.g., iPod, MP3 player, CD player) using one of the supplied audio patch cords to the Line-in jack on the back of the iHC5. Press the Mode button until "Aux" is displayed.

2.8 Remote Control Usage

The full-function remote control allows convenient operation of the iHC5 from a distance. It includes buttons for power, volume, mode selection, alarm control, radio tuning, and speakerphone functions.

3. Maintenance

3.1 Cleaning the Unit

Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials. Ensure the unit is unplugged before cleaning.

3.2 Battery Replacement

If the clock or alarm settings are lost during a power outage, the backup batteries may need replacement. Replace the 3 AA batteries in the compartment on the bottom of the unit, ensuring correct polarity.

4. Troubleshooting

Poor radio reception/static.Antenna not extended or unit is in an area with poor signal.Extend the FM wire antenna fully. Reposition the unit for better reception.
