Setup

Upon receiving your Kershaw Scallion, remove it from its packaging. Inspect the knife for any visible damage or manufacturing defects. The knife comes pre-sharpened and ready for use. No assembly is required.

Operating Instructions

Opening the Blade:

  1. Ensure the Safety Tip Lock is disengaged (slid away from the blade tip).
  2. Apply slight pressure to the thumb stud or the flipper tab located on the back of the blade.
  3. The SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism will rapidly deploy the blade into the open and locked position.

Closing the Blade:

  1. Locate the liner lock, which is a metal bar inside the handle that engages the base of the blade.
  2. Push the liner lock to the side, away from the blade's path.
  3. Carefully fold the blade back into the handle until it is fully closed. Ensure fingers are clear of the blade path.

Engaging the Safety Tip Lock:

  1. With the blade fully closed, locate the small slider on the spine of the handle near the blade tip.
  2. Slide this mechanism towards the blade tip until it covers the tip, preventing accidental opening.
  3. To disengage, slide the mechanism back away from the blade tip.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Kershaw Scallion knife.

  • Cleaning: The manufacturer recommends hand washing only. After use, especially with corrosive materials, clean the blade and handle with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately to prevent rust.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of high-quality knife oil to the pivot area to ensure smooth assisted opening and closing.
  • Sharpening: Maintain the blade's sharpness using a suitable knife sharpener. A sharp blade is safer and more effective.
  • Storage: Store the knife in a dry environment with the Safety Tip Lock engaged to prevent accidental deployment.
