Setup Guide
1. Unpacking
Carefully remove the Blu-Ray Disc Player and all accessories from the packaging. Ensure all components are present: the BDP-S500 unit, remote control, batteries, and power cord. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
2. Connections
Connect the player to your television and audio system using appropriate cables.
- HDMI Connection: For optimal video and audio quality, connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT port on the BDP-S500 to an HDMI IN port on your TV or AV receiver. This connection supports 1080p video and high-resolution audio formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD.
- Audio Connection (Optional): If your receiver does not support HDMI audio, use optical or coaxial digital audio cables for multi-channel sound, or RCA stereo cables for two-channel audio.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into the AC IN jack on the rear of the player, then into a wall outlet.
3. Initial Power On
After making all connections, press the power button on the player or remote control. Follow any on-screen prompts for initial setup, such as language selection and video output settings.

1. Basic Disc Playback
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the motorized front door and disc tray.
- Place a Blu-ray Disc or DVD onto the disc tray with the label side facing up.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the tray.

Handle discs by their edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches. Store discs in their cases when not in use. Do not expose discs to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
3. Menu Navigation

4. BRAVIA Theater Sync™
If connected to a compatible Sony BRAVIA TV and AV receiver via HDMI, enable BRAVIA Theater Sync in the player's settings menu. This allows for synchronized power on/off and input switching with a single remote.
5. Internet Video Access
The BDP-S500 supports BRAVIA Internet Video, providing access to various online content services.

To access these services, ensure your player is connected to the internet (Ethernet connection required, as this model does not have built-in Wi-Fi). Navigate to the "Video" or "Internet Video" section from the main menu.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
- Exterior: Wipe the player's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Disc Tray: Keep the disc tray free of dust and debris. Do not use compressed air directly into the disc slot.
