Installation
1. Mounting the Timer
- Select an indoor location near a standard electrical outlet and away from direct sunlight, heat, or freezing temperatures.
- Use the provided mounting template (if available) or mark two mounting holes on the wall, ensuring they are level.
- Drill pilot holes and insert wall anchors if mounting into drywall.
- Insert screws into the upper mounting holes, leaving a small gap between the screw head and the wall.
- Hang the timer unit onto the upper screws using the keyhole slots on the back.
- Secure the timer by inserting a screw through the lower mounting hole and tightening all screws.
2. Wiring the Valves
Each sprinkler valve has two wires. One wire from each valve is a common wire, and the other is a specific zone wire.
- Strip approximately 1/2 inch of insulation from the ends of all valve wires.
- Connect all common wires from your valves to the terminal labeled "COMMON" or "C" on the timer.
- Connect each individual zone wire to its corresponding station terminal (e.g., Station 1 to "1", Station 2 to "2", etc.).
- Ensure all wire connections are secure.
3. Connecting Power
Connect the power adapter to the timer's power input jack, then plug the adapter into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet. The timer display should illuminate.
Setup and Programming
The Orbit 57114 timer features a digital LCD screen and a control dial for easy navigation and programming.
1. Set Current Time and Day
- Turn the dial to "SET CLOCK".
- Use the + and - buttons to adjust the hour, then press "NEXT" or "ENTER" (button names may vary slightly) to move to minutes.
- Adjust minutes, then press "NEXT" or "ENTER" to set AM/PM.
- Continue to set the current day of the week.
2. Program Watering Schedules (A and B)
The timer allows for two independent programs, A and B. Each program can have up to 8 start times.
- Select Program: Turn the dial to "PROGRAM A" or "PROGRAM B".
- Set Start Times:
- Turn the dial to "START TIMES".
- Use + and - buttons to set the desired start time for the first cycle. Press "NEXT" or "ENTER".
- Repeat for up to 8 start times. To disable a start time, set it to "OFF".
- Set Watering Duration:
- Turn the dial to "RUN TIME".
- Select the station (1-4) you wish to program.
- Use + and - buttons to set the watering duration (1 to 99 minutes) for that station.
- Press "NEXT" or "ENTER" to move to the next station. Repeat for all active stations.
- Set Watering Days:
- Turn the dial to "HOW OFTEN".
- Choose your preferred scheduling method:
- Days of the Week: Select specific days (e.g., Mon, Wed, Fri) using the + and - buttons to toggle days ON/OFF.
- Intervals: Set an interval (e.g., every 2 days, every 3 days) from 1 to 28 days.
3. Activate Program
After programming, turn the dial to "AUTO" to enable the automatic watering schedule. The timer will now operate according to your set programs.
Operation
Automatic Operation
When the dial is set to "AUTO", the timer will automatically activate your programmed watering schedules (Program A and Program B) at their designated start times, for the specified durations, and on the selected days or intervals.
Manual Operation (Water Now)
To manually water a station or all stations:
- Turn the dial to "MANUAL".
- Use the + and - buttons to select the station you wish to water manually.
- Press "NEXT" or "ENTER" to confirm.
- Set the desired watering duration for the manual cycle.
- The selected station will begin watering immediately. To stop manual watering, turn the dial back to "AUTO" or "OFF".
Maintenance
The Orbit 57114 timer requires minimal maintenance. Ensure it remains in a dry, indoor environment. Periodically check wire connections for corrosion or looseness. If the display fades or the timer behaves erratically, ensure the power adapter is securely connected and functioning correctly.
Troubleshooting
- Timer Display is Blank:
- Check if the power adapter is securely plugged into both the timer and the electrical outlet.
- Verify the electrical outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
- Sprinklers Do Not Turn On:
- Ensure the dial is set to "AUTO" for automatic operation.

- Timer is Not Keeping Time:
