1. Introduction

2. Important Safety Information

4. Setup
4.1 Charging the Battery
Before first use, fully charge the lithium-ion battery. The battery provides up to eight hours of playback at normal volume.
- Connect the power supply to the SoundDock Portable system.
- Plug the power supply into a wall outlet.
- The battery indicator light will show charging status. A full charge typically takes about 4 hours.
4.2 Inserting the Battery
The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is user-swappable. To insert or replace the battery:
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the SoundDock Portable system.
- Align the battery with the compartment and gently push it into place until it clicks.
4.3 Connecting Your iPod/iPhone
The SoundDock Portable system is compatible with most iPod and iPhone models featuring a click wheel. For newer iPhone models (e.g., iPhone 5 and later) with a Lightning connector, an Apple Lightning to 30-pin adapter is required (sold separately).
- Gently rotate the docking station forward until it locks into the open position.
- Carefully place your iPod or iPhone onto the 30-pin connector in the docking station. Ensure it is seated firmly.
- Your device will begin charging automatically when the system is plugged in, even while playing.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On/Off
To power on the system, simply dock your iPod/iPhone or press any button on the remote control. To power off, remove your device or press and hold the power button on the remote.
5.2 Adjusting Volume
Use the volume buttons (+ and -) on the SoundDock Portable system or the remote control to adjust the playback volume.
5.3 Using the Remote Control
The included remote control allows you to manage basic functions of the SoundDock Portable system and your docked iPod/iPhone:
- Power: Turns the system on or off.
- Volume Up/Down: Adjusts audio volume.
- Play/Pause: Controls playback of your device.

- Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the auxiliary input jack on the SoundDock Portable system.
- Connect the other end of the cable to the headphone jack or audio output of your external device.
- The system will automatically switch to auxiliary input when a signal is detected.
