2. Safety Information

WARNING: This product must be installed and serviced by a qualified pool professional in accordance with all applicable local and national codes and ordinances. Improper installation or operation can result in serious injury, death, or property damage.

3. Installation and Setup

3.1 Site Selection

Choose a location that is dry, well-ventilated, and protected from direct sunlight and excessive moisture. The pump should be installed as close to the pool as possible to minimize friction loss from plumbing. Ensure adequate space around the pump for maintenance and service.

3.2 Mounting the Pump

Mount the pump on a firm, level base to prevent vibration and stress on the plumbing. A concrete pad or similar durable material is recommended. Avoid using wood, as it can rot when exposed to moisture. Ensure the pump is positioned to align with existing plumbing.

3.3 Plumbing Connections

The SuperFlo pump includes unionized fittings with gaskets for both the input and output ends, designed for 1.5-inch PVC plumbing.

  1. Dry-fit all plumbing connections first to ensure proper alignment before cementing.
  2. Apply PVC primer and cement according to manufacturer instructions for a watertight seal.
  3. Connect the suction line to the front port of the pump and the discharge line to the top port.
  4. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.

3.4 Electrical Wiring

IMPORTANT: Electrical wiring should only be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified pool professional. Incorrect wiring can lead to severe injury, fire, or pump damage.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Priming the Pump

Before starting the pump for the first time, or after the pump has been drained, it must be primed.

  1. Ensure all valves are open to allow water flow to the pump.
  2. Remove the clear lid of the strainer basket by turning it counter-clockwise.
  3. Fill the strainer basket with water until it reaches the suction pipe level.
  4. Replace the lid, ensuring it is securely tightened to prevent air leaks. The cam and ramp lid design allows for easy locking with a quarter turn.
  5. Turn on the power to the pump. The pump should begin to pull water and evacuate air.
  6. If the pump does not prime within a few minutes, turn it off, re-check water levels, and inspect for air leaks in the suction line.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Strainer Basket Cleaning

Regularly inspect and clean the strainer basket to maintain optimal pump performance and prevent clogging.

  1. Turn off the pump at the circuit breaker.
  2. Close any necessary valves to prevent water flow from the pool.
  3. Remove the clear strainer basket lid by turning it counter-clockwise. The "dog ears" on the lid are designed for easier grip and removal.
  4. Lift out the basket and empty any debris.
  5. Rinse the basket thoroughly with water.
  6. Inspect the O-ring on the lid for cracks or wear. Replace if necessary.
  7. Return the basket to the pump and securely replace the lid.
  8. Re-open valves and restore power to the pump.

5.2 Winterization

In areas subject to freezing temperatures, the pump must be drained and winterized to prevent damage.
