Please read this manual thoroughly before connecting and operating your speakers to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

2. Product Overview

The Klipsch RF-62 is a high-performance floorstanding loudspeaker designed to deliver exceptional audio quality for both music and home theater systems. It incorporates advanced Klipsch technologies to provide a clear, dynamic, and immersive listening experience.

Key Features:

The Klipsch RF-62 speaker consists of a main enclosure housing the tweeter and woofers, and a removable low-diffraction, magnetically attached grille. The rear panel includes connection terminals for speaker wire.

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the speaker from its packaging. Retain the original packaging materials for future transport or storage. Inspect the speaker for any signs of damage. If damage is present, contact your dealer immediately.

3.2 Placement

Optimal speaker placement is crucial for sound quality. For stereo listening, place the speakers equidistant from the primary listening position and spaced apart to create an equilateral triangle. For home theater, position the RF-62 as your front left and right channels, typically on either side of your television or projection screen.

  • Avoid placing speakers directly in corners, as this can overemphasize bass.
  • Maintain some distance from walls to allow the rear-firing ports to function effectively.
  • Ensure speakers are stable and level on the floor.

3.3 Connecting Speaker Wire

The Klipsch RF-62 requires speaker wire for connection to an amplifier or receiver (speaker wire not included). Use high-quality speaker wire of appropriate gauge for your cable length. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and – to –) for all connections.

  1. Turn off all audio components before making connections.
  2. Strip approximately 1/2 inch (12mm) of insulation from the ends of the speaker wire.
  3. Twist the bare wire strands tightly.
  4. Unscrew the binding posts on the back of the speaker and your amplifier/receiver.
  5. Insert the positive (+) wire (often marked red or with a stripe) into the red binding post on both the speaker and the amplifier.
  6. Insert the negative (-) wire (often marked black or plain) into the black binding post on both the speaker and the amplifier.
  7. Tighten the binding posts securely, ensuring no stray wire strands are touching each other or the opposing terminal.

Incorrect wiring can lead to poor sound quality or damage to your equipment.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Initial Power-Up

Once all connections are secure, you can power on your amplifier/receiver. Start with the volume at its lowest setting and gradually increase it to a comfortable listening level. The Klipsch RF-62 speakers are designed to handle significant power, but always listen responsibly to avoid hearing damage or speaker damage.

4.2 Break-In Period

Like many high-fidelity speakers, the Klipsch RF-62 may benefit from a break-in period. This typically involves playing music or audio content at moderate volumes for several hours (e.g., 50-100 hours). During this time, the speaker components will settle, potentially leading to improved bass response and overall sound clarity.

4.3 Amplifier Compatibility

The RF-62 has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms compatible and a sensitivity of 97dB. It is designed to be easily driven by a wide range of amplifiers and receivers. Ensure your amplifier's power output is within the recommended range (125W RMS / 500W Peak) to prevent damage to the speakers or amplifier.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To clean the speaker cabinet, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or solvents, as these can damage the finish. The grilles can be gently vacuumed to remove dust.

5.2 General Care

  • Keep speakers away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Avoid exposing speakers to excessive moisture or humidity.
  • Do not place heavy objects on top of the speakers.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the speakers, especially if placed in an enclosed space.

6. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your Klipsch RF-62 speakers, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
