Setup and Installation
The TITAN 1/2 HP Mid-Duty Food Waste Disposer features a standard 3-bolt mounting system for straightforward installation and replacement. It is designed to replace most garbage disposal brands using similar 3-bolt mounting systems.
Included Components:
- Food Waste Disposer Unit
- Removable Splash Guard
- Stainless Steel Sink Flange
- Stopper
- Power Cord (attached)
- Drain Outlet Elbow and Elbow Screws
- Elbow Flange
Installation Steps:
- Prepare Sink Opening: Ensure the sink opening is clean and free of debris. If replacing an old disposal, remove the existing unit and mounting assembly.
- Install Sink Flange: Apply plumber's putty around the underside of the stainless steel sink flange and press it firmly into the sink drain opening.
- Assemble Mounting Ring: From underneath the sink, slide the fiber gasket, backup flange, and mounting ring onto the sink flange. Secure with the snap ring. Tighten the three mounting screws evenly to create a watertight seal.
- Connect Dishwasher Drain (if applicable): If connecting a dishwasher, remove the knockout plug from the dishwasher inlet on the disposal unit. Secure the dishwasher hose to the inlet using a hose clamp.
- Attach Disposal Unit: Align the three mounting tabs on the disposal unit with the mounting ring. Lift and twist the disposal unit clockwise until it locks into place. Use pliers or a specialized wrench to ensure a secure lock.
- Connect Drain Plumbing: Attach the drain outlet elbow to the disposal unit using the provided elbow flange and screws. Connect the elbow to your existing household drain plumbing. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.
- Connect Power: The unit comes with an attached 120V power cord. Plug the disposal into a grounded outlet.
- Test for Leaks: Run cold water into the sink and check all connections for leaks.

Operating Instructions
The TITAN garbage disposal is a continuous feed unit, allowing food waste to be added while it is running.
- Turn on the cold water faucet to a moderate flow.
- Flip the disposal switch to the ON position.
- Scrape food waste into the disposal opening. The Torque Master grinding system, with its stainless steel impellers, efficiently grinds coffee grounds, vegetable scraps, peelings, and small bones into fine particles.
- Allow the disposal to run until all food waste is cleared and only the sound of water and the motor is heard.
- Turn off the disposal, then turn off the cold water after a few seconds to flush the drain line.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your garbage disposal.
- Cleaning: The removable rubber splash guard baffle can be easily removed for cleaning. Clean it regularly to prevent odor buildup.
- Odor Control: To help control odors, grind citrus peels (lemon, orange) or a small amount of ice cubes with cold water.
- Avoid Grease: Do not pour grease or oil down the disposal, as it can solidify and clog pipes.
Troubleshooting
If your disposal is not operating correctly, refer to the following common issues and solutions:
- Disposal Not Starting:
a. Check if the unit is plugged in securely.
b. Press the red reset button located on the front bottom of the disposal unit (see Figure 1).
c. Check your household circuit breaker. - Humming but Not Grinding:
a. This indicates an object is jammed in the grinding chamber. Turn off the disposal and disconnect power.
b. Use a flashlight to look into the drain opening. If an object is visible, remove it with tongs or pliers. Never use your hand.
c. If no object is visible, use the provided hex wrench (or a 1/4 inch hex wrench) to insert into the center hole on the bottom of the disposal and turn it back and forth to free the impellers. - Leaks:
a. Check all plumbing connections for tightness.
b. Inspect the sink flange for proper sealing; re-tighten mounting screws if necessary.
