2. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the safety of your child. The KeyFit base offers two primary installation methods: using the vehicle's LATCH system or the vehicle's seat belt.

- Ensure your vehicle's seating position is suitable for a rear-facing infant car seat base.
- Consult your vehicle's owner's manual for specific car seat installation guidelines and LATCH anchor locations.
2.2. Adjusting the Recline Angle (ReclineSure Leveling Foot)
The ReclineSure leveling foot helps achieve the proper recline angle for your infant car seat base. This is essential for your child's safety and comfort.
- Place the car seat base on the vehicle seat.
- Locate the ReclineSure leveling foot adjustment handle, typically found at the front of the base.
- Press the adjustment handle and rotate the leveling foot to raise or lower the front of the base until the RideRight bubble level indicator shows the bubble within the green zone.

2.3. LATCH Installation (SuperCinch Tightener)
The SuperCinch LATCH Tightener provides a secure installation with minimal effort.
- Locate your vehicle's lower LATCH anchors.
- Extend the LATCH connectors from the car seat base.
- Attach both LATCH connectors to the vehicle's lower anchors. Ensure they click securely into place.
- Press down firmly on the car seat base while pulling the SuperCinch LATCH Tightener strap to remove slack from the LATCH belt.
- Verify the installation by checking that the base does not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.

2.4. Vehicle Seat Belt Installation
For vehicles without LATCH anchors, or if preferred, use the vehicle's seat belt.
- Route the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt through the designated belt path on the car seat base.
- Buckle the seat belt.
- Engage the integrated lock-offs on the base to secure the seat belt.
- Press down firmly on the car seat base while pulling the shoulder belt to remove all slack.
- Verify the installation by checking that the base does not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.

3. Operating the Car Seat Base
Once the base is securely installed, attaching and detaching the infant car seat is a simple process.
3.1. Attaching the Infant Car Seat
- Align the infant car seat with the base.
- Lower the car seat onto the base until it clicks securely into place.
- Gently pull up on the car seat to ensure it is firmly attached to the base.

- Squeeze the release handle and lift the infant car seat straight up from the base.

- For LATCH installation, ensure the SuperCinch Tightener strap is pulled taut while pressing down on the base.
- For seat belt installation, ensure the vehicle's seat belt is fully tightened and the integrated lock-offs are engaged.
- Check that the base does not move more than one inch in any direction at the belt path.
5.3. Infant Car Seat Not Clicking into Base
- Ensure the infant car seat is correctly aligned with the base.
- Check for any obstructions between the car seat and the base.
- Apply firm, even pressure when lowering the car seat onto the base.
