Setup Instructions
Connecting to Your Device
The A4-Tech HS-50 headset utilizes two separate 3.5mm audio jacks for audio output and microphone input. Ensure your device has two corresponding 3.5mm ports (one for headphones, typically green, and one for microphone, typically pink).
- Locate the green 3.5mm jack on your headset cable. This is for audio output.
- Insert the green jack into the headphone port (often marked with a headphone icon or green color) on your computer or audio device.
- Locate the pink 3.5mm jack on your headset cable. This is for microphone input.
- Insert the pink jack into the microphone port (often marked with a microphone icon or pink color) on your computer or audio device.
- If your device only has a single combined 3.5mm audio jack, you will need a TRRS adapter (not included) to use both headphone and microphone functions simultaneously.
Audio Settings Configuration (Windows Example)
- After connecting the headset, right-click the speaker icon in your system tray and select "Sound settings" or "Open Sound settings".
- Under "Output", select "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)" or a similar option corresponding to your headset.
- Under "Input", select "Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)" or a similar option corresponding to your headset.
- Adjust the volume levels for both output and input as needed.
Operating Instructions
Volume Control
The headset features an in-line control unit on the cable for convenient volume adjustment and microphone mute.
- Volume Wheel: Rotate the wheel on the in-line control unit to increase or decrease the headphone volume.
Microphone Usage
- Microphone Mute Switch: Use the sliding switch on the in-line control unit to mute or unmute the microphone. Position '0' typically mutes, and '1' unmutes.
- Microphone Positioning: For optimal voice clarity, position the microphone approximately 1-2 inches from your mouth.
Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the headset. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the headset in a clean, dry place away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
- Cable Care: Avoid sharp bends or excessive pulling on the cable to prevent damage.
Troubleshooting
No Sound from Headset
- Ensure the green 3.5mm audio jack is fully inserted into the correct headphone port.
- Check the in-line volume control and ensure it is not set to minimum.
- Verify your computer's audio output settings are configured to use the headset.
- Test the headset on another device to rule out a device-specific issue.
Microphone Not Working
- Ensure the pink 3.5mm audio jack is fully inserted into the correct microphone port.
- Check the in-line microphone mute switch and ensure it is in the 'unmute' position.
- Verify your computer's audio input settings are configured to use the headset microphone.
- Ensure no other applications are exclusively using the microphone.
Headset Requires an Adapter
- If your device has a single 3.5mm port (TRRS combo jack), you will need a "Y-splitter" adapter that converts two 3.5mm plugs (headphone and mic) into one TRRS plug. This adapter is not included with the HS-50.
