Model: DWCPPADTS5

1. Introduction and Overview

The DW Go Anywhere 5-Piece Practice Pad Set with Stand is designed to provide drummers with a quiet and portable solution for practicing. This set allows for the development of independence, groove, and coordination without the volume of a full acoustic drum kit. Its compact design and natural feel pads make it suitable for various practice environments.

2. Product Features

  • Two 8-inch practice pads, suitable for tom and cymbal practice.
  • Two 10-inch practice pads, ideal for snare and floor tom practice.
  • One bass drum practice pad for foot pedal technique development.
  • Heavy-duty construction ensures durability and stability during practice.
  • Pads offer a natural feel and rebound, simulating the response of acoustic drums.
  • Easy setup and breakdown for portability and convenient storage.

Note: A bass drum pedal is not included with this set and must be purchased separately. DWSMPADLK Pad Memory Locks (4-pack with key) are also sold separately for enhanced pad positioning stability.

3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to assemble your DW Go Anywhere 5-Piece Practice Pad Set:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify that all components listed in the packing list are present.
  2. Assemble the Stand Base: Extend the tripod legs of the main stand base until they are fully open and stable. Secure any locking mechanisms on the legs.
  3. Attach the Bass Drum Pad: Secure the bass drum pad to the lower section of the main stand pole using the provided clamps. Ensure it is at a comfortable height for your bass drum pedal (not included).
  4. Install Main Vertical Pole: Insert the upper vertical pole into the stand base. Adjust the height to your preference and secure it with the locking clamp.
  5. Attach Pad Arms: Mount the horizontal pad arms to the vertical pole using the clamps. Position them to mimic a standard drum kit setup.
  6. Mount Practice Pads: Screw the 8-inch and 10-inch practice pads onto the ends of the pad arms. Ensure they are tightened securely but do not overtighten.
  7. Adjust Pad Angles: Adjust the angle and position of each pad for optimal playing comfort and ergonomic setup. Use the drum key (if included, or a standard drum key) for adjustments.

4. Operating Instructions

The DW Go Anywhere Practice Pad Set is designed for silent or low-volume practice. Use standard drumsticks or practice sticks on the rubber pads. The pads are arranged to simulate a standard drum kit, allowing you to practice various drumming techniques and patterns, including:

  • Hand Technique: Focus on stick control, rebound, and dynamics on the snare and tom pads.
  • Foot Technique: Utilize the bass drum pad with your bass drum pedal (not included) to develop foot independence and speed.
  • Coordination: Practice limb independence and complex rhythmic patterns across all five pads.
  • Warm-ups: Use the set for daily warm-up routines to improve dexterity and muscle memory.

For best results, ensure the stand is stable and the pads are securely fastened before beginning your practice session. Adjust pad positions as needed to maintain an ergonomic and comfortable playing posture.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the life of your practice pad set:

  • Cleaning Pads: Wipe the rubber surfaces of the pads with a damp cloth to remove dust and stick residue. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the rubber.
  • Cleaning Hardware: Clean chrome hardware with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn smudges, a mild chrome cleaner can be used, followed by a thorough wipe-down.
  • Tightening Fasteners: Periodically check all screws, clamps, and wing nuts for tightness. Loose components can affect stability and pad response. Do not overtighten.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the practice set in a dry, temperature-controlled environment. If disassembling for storage, ensure all parts are clean and dry.

6. Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

  • Pads Feel Loose: Ensure all mounting screws and clamps are tightened. If using DWSMPADLK Pad Memory Locks (sold separately), verify they are correctly installed and secured.
  • Stand Instability: Check that the tripod legs are fully extended and locked. Ensure the main vertical pole is securely clamped at its base. Verify the set is on a flat, stable surface.
  • Reduced Rebound: Over time, rubber pads may show wear. Ensure pads are clean and free of excessive stick residue. If rebound significantly diminishes, consider replacing the pads.
  • Squeaking Noises: Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to moving parts of clamps or joints if squeaking occurs. Avoid oil-based lubricants on rubber parts.
