Important Safety Instructions
WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or property damage.
- Read all instructions carefully before using the pressure cooker.
- Do not fill the pressure cooker more than two-thirds full. For foods that expand during cooking (e.g., rice, dried vegetables), do not fill more than one-half full. Overfilling can cause clogging of the vent pipe and lead to excessive pressure.
- Never force the lid open. Ensure all internal pressure has been released before attempting to open the lid.
- Do not use the pressure cooker in an oven.
- Always check the pressure regulator valve, safety valve, and sealing ring for cleanliness and proper function before each use.
- Keep children away from the pressure cooker during use.
- Use caution when moving a pressure cooker containing hot liquids.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- This appliance cooks under pressure. Improper use may result in scalding injury. Make certain unit is properly closed before operating.
- Never use the pressure cooker without adding liquid.

Setup and Initial Use
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and dispose of them responsibly.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the pot, lid, and sealing ring with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. The handle unit can be detached for cleaning (see Maintenance section).
- Attaching the Handle: Ensure the handle is securely attached to the lid. Align the handle with the designated slot on the lid and slide it into place until it clicks. If the handle was detached for cleaning, reattach it firmly.
- Check Sealing Ring: Verify that the sealing ring is correctly seated in the lid groove and is free from damage or debris.

Operating Instructions
- Filling the Pot: Add food and liquid to the pressure cooker. Observe the maximum fill lines inside the pot. Do not exceed the 2/3 mark for most foods, and the 1/2 mark for foods that expand.
- Closing the Lid: Place the lid onto the pot, aligning the handle with the pot handle. Slide the lid handle until it locks securely. Ensure the lid is fully closed and sealed before applying heat.
- Heat Source: Place the pressure cooker on a suitable hob. The TransTherm universal base is compatible with ceramic, electric, gas, and induction cooktops. Use a hob size appropriate for the pot's base diameter.
- Building Pressure: Heat the pressure cooker on high heat. As pressure builds, the cooking indicator on the handle will rise. The WMF Perfect RDS features two cooking levels, indicated by red rings.
- Cooking Time: Once the desired cooking level (number of red rings) is reached, reduce the heat to maintain that level. Begin timing your recipe.
- Releasing Pressure: After cooking, remove the pressure cooker from the heat. There are generally three methods for pressure release:
- Natural Release: Allow the pressure cooker to cool down naturally. The pressure indicator will drop on its own. This method is suitable for foods that benefit from additional cooking time.
- Cold Water Release: For faster release, place the pressure cooker under cold running water, avoiding the lid and handle, until the pressure indicator drops.
- Quick Release (Steam Release Valve): Carefully press the steam release button or slide the valve on the handle to release steam. Use caution as hot steam will escape. Only use this method for foods that do not foam.
- Opening the Lid: Once the pressure indicator has fully dropped and no steam is escaping, slide the lid handle to unlock and carefully open the lid away from your face to avoid residual steam.

Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure the longevity and safe operation of your WMF Perfect RDS pressure cooker.
- Detaching the Handle: For thorough cleaning, the lid handle can be easily detached. Press the release button (often orange or red) on the underside of the handle and slide it off the lid.
- Cleaning the Pot and Lid: The stainless steel pot and lid (without the handle unit) are dishwasher safe. For hand washing, use warm soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge.
- Cleaning the Handle Unit: The detached handle unit should be rinsed under running water. Ensure all food residues are removed from the valves and mechanisms. Do not immerse the handle unit in water or wash it in a dishwasher.
- Cleaning the Sealing Ring: Remove the sealing ring from the lid after each use. Wash it with warm soapy water and ensure it is clean and flexible. Allow it to dry completely before reinserting. Replace the sealing ring if it becomes hard, cracked, or shows signs of wear.
- Checking Valves: Regularly check the pressure regulator valve and safety valve for any blockages. Ensure they move freely and are clean.
- Storage: Store the pressure cooker with the lid inverted or slightly ajar to prevent odors and to protect the sealing ring.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure not building | Lid not properly closed; Sealing ring damaged or incorrectly placed; Insufficient liquid; Vent pipe blocked. | Ensure lid is locked; Check/replace sealing ring; Add more liquid; Clean vent pipe. |
| Steam escaping from lid edge | Sealing ring damaged or dirty; Lid not properly closed; Pot rim damaged. | Clean or replace sealing ring; Ensure lid is locked; Inspect pot rim for damage. |
| Lid cannot be opened after cooking | Residual pressure inside. | Ensure pressure indicator has fully dropped. If not, cool the cooker under cold water until it drops. Never force open. |
| Food burning at the bottom | Too little liquid; Heat too high. | Always use sufficient liquid; Reduce heat once pressure is reached. |
