Setup and Installation

Follow these steps carefully for proper installation of your dimmer switch.

1. Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse that supplies power to the switch location. Turn it OFF. Verify power is off by attempting to turn on the light or appliance controlled by the switch.
2. Remove Old Switch: Carefully remove the existing wallplate and mounting screws from the old switch. Gently pull the switch out from the wall box.
3. Disconnect Wiring: Disconnect the wires from the old switch. Note the wire connections (e.g., common, traveler wires). For 3-way installations, there will typically be three wires plus a ground wire.
4. Wire the Dimmer: Connect the wires to the Leviton 6623-PI dimmer according to the wiring diagram provided with the product (not included in this manual, refer to product packaging for specific diagrams). Ensure all wire connections are secure.
   • Common Wire: Typically connected to the darker or differently colored screw terminal.
   • Traveler Wires: Connected to the two remaining screw terminals.

• Turning Lights ON/OFF: Press the small button at the bottom of the dimmer to turn the lights ON or OFF.
• Dimming Control: Slide the vertical control lever up to increase light intensity and down to decrease light intensity.
• Preset Feature: When the lights are OFF, pressing the bottom button will turn the lights ON to the last dimmed level you set with the slide control. This allows for instant recall of your preferred brightness.

Maintenance

The Leviton 6623-PI dimmer switch requires minimal maintenance.

• Cleaning: To clean the dimmer and wallplate, wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
