Figure 1: Front Panel of the TP152A Power Supply. This image displays the front panel, highlighting the analog voltmeter on the left, the red ON/OFF rocker switch, the black voltage adjustment knob, and the red positive (+) and black negative (-) output terminals.

Front Panel Components:

  • Analog Voltmeter: Displays the output voltage in Volts (V).
  • Power Switch: Rocker switch to turn the unit ON (I) or OFF (O).
  • Voltage Adjustment Knob: Rotates to adjust the DC output voltage from 2.2V to 15V.
  • Output Terminals: Red terminal for positive (+) output, Black terminal for negative (-) output. These are screw-type terminals that can also accept banana plugs.

Figure 2: Rear Panel of the TP152A Power Supply. This image shows the rear of the unit, including the attached power cord, regulatory compliance markings (CE, RoHS), and a label detailing input/output specifications and fuse information.

Rear Panel Components:

  • AC Input Power Cord: Permanently attached cord for connecting to a standard AC power outlet.
  • Product Label: Provides input voltage range (AC 90V-253V), output specifications (DC 2.2-15V, 2A), and fuse rating (2A, F).
  • Ventilation Grilles: Located on the sides and top for heat dissipation.

Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the power supply from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage.
  2. Placement: Place the power supply on a stable, level surface with adequate ventilation. Ensure that the ventilation grilles are not obstructed.
  3. Initial Power Connection:
    • Ensure the power switch on the front panel is in the "OFF" (O) position.
    • Plug the AC input power cord into a standard, grounded electrical outlet.
  4. Pre-Operation Check: Before connecting any device, turn the power supply ON (I) and observe the analog voltmeter. Rotate the voltage adjustment knob to ensure the meter responds and shows a variable voltage output. Turn the unit OFF (O) before proceeding to connect a load.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to safely operate your Tekpower TP152A DC Variable Power Supply.

  1. Prepare the Load: Ensure the device you intend to power is turned off and its power requirements (voltage and current) are within the specifications of the TP152A (2.2-15V DC, max 2A).
  2. Connect the Load:
    • With the power supply OFF, connect the positive (+) lead of your device to the red output terminal.
    • Connect the negative (-) lead of your device to the black output terminal.
    • Ensure connections are secure. The terminals can accept stripped wires or banana plugs.
  3. Set Initial Voltage: Rotate the voltage adjustment knob counter-clockwise to its minimum setting (fully left).
  4. Power On: Flip the power switch to the "ON" (I) position. The analog voltmeter will show the current output voltage.
  5. Adjust Voltage: Slowly rotate the voltage adjustment knob clockwise to increase the output voltage to the desired level for your device. Observe the analog voltmeter for the current voltage reading.
  6. Monitor Operation: During operation, periodically check the power supply for any unusual heat or noise. The unit is designed for a fixed 2A current output.
  7. Power Off: When finished, first turn off the device connected to the power supply. Then, rotate the voltage adjustment knob counter-clockwise to its minimum setting. Finally, flip the power switch to the "OFF" (O) position.
  8. Disconnect Load: Disconnect the leads from the output terminals.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power supply from the AC outlet before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Periodically check that the ventilation grilles are free from dust and debris. Use compressed air if necessary to clear obstructions.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the power supply in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Fuse Replacement: The fuse is located internally. If the unit fails to power on, it may indicate a blown fuse. Fuse replacement should only be performed by qualified service personnel. Refer to the product label for the correct fuse rating (2A, F).
