Samson MS200 Heavy Duty Studio Monitor Stands User Manual

Model: MS200

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Samson MS200 Heavy Duty Studio Monitor Stands. These stands are designed to provide stable and adjustable support for your studio monitors, optimizing your listening environment. Featuring a telescoping column for height adjustment, solid metal speaker platforms, and heavy bases with carpet spikes, the MS200 stands are built for durability and performance in professional and home studio settings.

2. Safety Information

  • Always ensure all components are securely fastened before placing monitors on the stands.
  • Do not exceed the maximum speaker load of 40 lbs (18.1 kg) per stand.
  • Place stands on a stable, level surface to prevent tipping.
  • Exercise caution when adjusting height, ensuring the locking pin is fully engaged.
  • Keep children and pets away from the stands, especially during adjustment or when heavy monitors are in place.
  • If using carpet spikes, ensure they are properly installed and do not pose a tripping hazard.

3. Package Contents

Verify that your package contains the following items:

  • 2 x Samson MS200 Base Assemblies
  • 2 x Telescoping Upper Columns
  • 2 x Speaker Platform Plates
  • 6 x Carpet Spikes (3 per base)
  • 6 x Rubber Feet (optional, for hard floors)
  • Assembly Hardware (screws, butterfly screws, washers)
  • Rubber Isolation Pads for Speaker Platforms

4. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your Samson MS200 Studio Monitor Stands.

  1. Attach Base to Column: Insert the bottom end of a telescoping column into the center hole of a base assembly. Secure it using the provided butterfly screw and washer. Ensure the washer is placed between the butterfly screw and the base for a tight fit.
  2. Install Floor Spikes or Feet: For carpeted surfaces, screw the three carpet spikes into the threaded holes on the underside of each base. For hard surfaces, use the provided rubber feet instead of spikes to prevent scratching and improve stability.
  3. Attach Speaker Platform: Place a speaker platform plate onto the top of the telescoping column. Align the holes and secure it firmly with the provided screws. Ensure the platform is stable and does not wiggle.
  4. Apply Isolation Pads: Affix the self-adhesive rubber isolation pads to the top surface of the speaker platform. These pads help reduce vibrations and prevent your monitors from sliding.
  5. Repeat for Second Stand: Follow the same steps to assemble the second monitor stand.

5. Operation and Usage

5.1 Height Adjustment

The MS200 stands feature a telescoping column for adjustable height.

  1. Unlock Adjustment: Loosen the locking knob on the telescoping column.
  2. Adjust Height: Carefully raise or lower the upper column to your desired height.
  3. Secure Height: Once the desired height is reached, ensure the safety pin engages in one of the pre-drilled holes in the inner column. Then, tighten the locking knob firmly to prevent any movement.

5.2 Placing Monitors

  • Carefully place your studio monitors onto the speaker platforms.
  • Ensure the monitors are centered and stable on the platform. The rubber isolation pads will help secure them.
  • The stands are designed for monitors up to 8 inches in speaker size and a maximum weight of 40 lbs (18.1 kg). For optimal stability, monitors with a base footprint similar to or smaller than the stand's platform are recommended.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the stands with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
  • Regular Checks: Periodically check all screws and fasteners to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten if necessary to maintain stability.
  • Storage: If disassembling for storage, keep all parts together in a safe place to prevent loss.

7. Troubleshooting
