2. Setup and Initial Use

2.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the Koolatron P95 from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage. Ensure all included components, such as the removable shelf and 12V DC power plug, are present.

2.2 Placement

Place the cooler on a stable, flat surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit, especially near the fan vents, to allow for proper heat dissipation. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near heat sources when operating in cooling mode.

2.3 Power Connection

  1. Locate the 12V DC power outlet in your vehicle (e.g., cigarette lighter socket).
  2. Insert the provided 12V DC power plug firmly into the vehicle's outlet.

2.4 Pre-cooling / Pre-warming

For optimal performance, it is recommended to pre-cool or pre-warm the cooler for at least 1-2 hours before loading contents. This allows the unit to reach its target temperature more efficiently.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Cooling Mode

To operate the cooler in cooling mode:

  • Ensure the power cord connection is set for cooling (refer to Figure 2.2, typically indicated by a blue dot or similar marking).
  • Plug the unit into a 12V DC power source or an optional AC adapter.
  • The cooler will begin to cool its contents to approximately 40°F (22°C) below the ambient temperature. For example, if the surrounding temperature is 80°F, the interior will reach approximately 40°F.

3.2 Warming Mode

To operate the cooler in warming mode:

  • Ensure the power cord connection is set for warming (refer to Figure 2.2, typically indicated by a red dot or similar marking).
  • Plug the unit into a 12V DC power source or an optional AC adapter.
  • The cooler will begin to warm its contents up to 135°F (57°C). This is suitable for keeping cooked food warm.

3.3 Loading Contents

  • For best results, load items that are already pre-cooled or pre-warmed.
  • Fill the cooler as much as possible, as a full cooler maintains temperature more efficiently than an empty one.
  • Minimize the frequency and duration of lid openings to preserve the internal temperature.

4. Care and Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

  • Interior: Disconnect the power before cleaning. Wipe the interior with a damp cloth and mild soap. Rinse with a clean damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Fan Vents: Periodically check the fan vents for dust or debris accumulation. Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to gently clear any obstructions to ensure proper airflow.

4.2 Storage

When not in use, ensure the cooler is clean and dry. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Leaving the lid slightly ajar can help prevent odors and mildew formation.

5. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Unit not cooling/warming
  • No power to the unit.
  • Incorrect mode selected (cooling/warming).
  • Fan obstructed or not operating.

  • Ensure fan vents are clear and the fan is spinning.
  • Pre-cool items before loading. Operate in a shaded or cooler environment if possible.
Poor cooling/warming performance
  • Lid not sealed properly.
  • Frequent opening of the lid.
  • Unit not pre-cooled/pre-warmed.
  • Overloaded with warm/cold items.
