  2. Wash the removable grill plates and griddle plate in warm, soapy water, or place them in the dishwasher. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the appliance body in water or any other liquid.

3.2 Installing Cooking Plates

The GRP54G comes with two sets of removable plates: one set of grill plates and one set of griddle plates. Choose the appropriate plates for your cooking needs.

  1. Ensure the appliance is unplugged and cool.
  2. Align the tabs on the back of the desired cooking plate with the slots on the appliance base and lid.
  3. Press down firmly until the plate clicks into place. Repeat for the other plate.
  4. Ensure both plates are securely locked before use.

4. Using Your Griddle

4.1 Preheating

  1. Place the drip tray under the front of the grill to collect excess fat and liquids.
  2. Close the lid and plug the appliance into a standard electrical outlet. The indicator light will illuminate.
  3. Allow the grill to preheat for approximately 5-7 minutes, or until the indicator light turns off, signaling it has reached the optimal cooking temperature.

4.2 Cooking

  1. Carefully open the lid using the stay-cool handle.
  2. Place food directly onto the preheated cooking surface. Do not overload the grill.
  3. Close the lid. The floating hinge will adjust to the thickness of your food.
  4. Cook for the recommended time or until desired doneness is achieved. Cooking times will vary based on food type and thickness.
  5. Use the included spatula or heat-resistant plastic/wooden utensils to remove food. Do not use metal utensils, as they can damage the nonstick coating.
  6. After cooking, unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.

4.3 Using the Griddle Plate

The extra griddle plate is ideal for cooking items such as pancakes, French toast, eggs, and other foods that benefit from a flat cooking surface.

  • Ensure the griddle plates are installed as described in Section 3.2.
  • Preheat the griddle as described in Section 4.1.
  • Apply a small amount of cooking oil or butter if desired, though the nonstick surface often requires none.
  • Cook food on the griddle, turning as needed.
  • The griddle plate is deeper than the grill plates, making it suitable for items like omelets or reheating pizza without excessive compression.
