4. Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your KitchenAid Stand Mixer.
Cleaning the Mixer:
- Always unplug the mixer before cleaning.
- Wipe the mixer head and base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the mixer in water.
- The stainless steel bowl, wire whip, and burnished PowerKnead™ Spiral Dough Hook and Flat Beater are generally dishwasher safe. However, always refer to the specific care instructions for each attachment.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your mixer, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Attachments not fitting or locking: Ensure the bowl is correctly seated and the bowl-lift lever is in the appropriate position. Some users report that new bowls may require a firm push to snap into place.
- Coating flaking from beaters: This can occur with coated aluminum attachments over time. Consider replacing flaking beaters with stainless steel alternatives for durability and food safety.
- Unusual motor noise: While professional series mixers can be louder due to their powerful motors, excessive or unusual noise may indicate an issue. Ensure the mixer is on a stable surface and not overloaded. If noise persists, consult customer support.
